3. Get yourself medically checked

It may sound pessimistic but it’s always good to get yourself checked before you head into such an important phase of your life. Enter your marriage with a clean bill of health and a visit to the Gynecologist will leave you in good stead. WMG #LinkLove: Get a basis health check-up at Healthians in Gurgaon, they have a package that fits your every need.

4. Meet the family for lunches & dinners

In India, family matters! Even though you are only marrying him, his family will still be a part of your life.  So get to know them before-hand. See how you fare around them. WMG #LinkLove: Book a really nice meal at a top restaurant for a good bargain and a set menu at WOW Tables. Book for a family and get some good discounts.

5. Commit to some strict weekly ‘you time’

Identify what you really enjoy doing like a hobby, and carve out time in your busy weekly schedule to do it. However small and simple they maybe. Sometimes the little things in life are the most satisfying. WMG #LinkLove:Find your passion and a class you like attending at SkillKindle, it's super fun.  35-wedding-goa-034

6. Spend time with your family

Take advantage of any free time you can spend with those you really care about, while you have the time to do it. Family should always come first! So go out with your mom on that little trip. Take your sister out to that resort when you have all the time. Go karting with your brother over the weekend, you get the gist! WMG #LinkLove: My Glamm comes with at-home salon services - order your favourite and team up with your mom & sisters for a gala time. A good facial and girl-time is the need of the hour!

7. Sort your finances

Get your finances in order. Clean up on any pending credit and make some investment habits for you as a couple. It's also not a shabby idea to do it for your own peace of mind. Also, make sure you keep your savings in an account for your use - just yours! WMG #LinkLove: These sweet financial tips for women really opened our eyes. Read and follow.

8. Stay together

Live with your partner, at least for a month. Sure, if you're old-school, you may not be a fan of this one, but it can definitely serve as a "test drive" before buying the car. For those who fall on the conservative side, go out with your man and figure out your routine together. WMG #LinkLove: Living Together Rules: Good stuff for beginners!

9. Splurge on yourself

Splurge on yourself. Because you can and you should! No, we are not talking about material things like shoes and bags which you are already buying for your wedding. We are talking about spending on things that you have ignored till now: the lasik surgery for your eyes, the hair removal laser or the chemical peels you always put aside because they cost a lung. WMG #LinkLove: Read our founder Mehak's review of the Kaya Laser Hair Removal package. Help is here!

10. Confront your fears

Face one of your biggest fears. Be it skydiving, public speaking, or dining in public alone. You are getting married so you better be ready for anything! Do one thing that really scares you. WMG #LinkLove: Make a simple bucket list and stick to it. Who knows, you might just love it after all.  09-wedding-goa-008

11. Talk about kids

Decide how you feel about kids. Like money, a majorly important thing to reflect on and discuss before getting hitched. No, it's not "too soon". Talk about when you want kids, how many and how do you see your career moving! WMG #LinkLove: Indian Express has a great read on why you need to discuss this before hand with your partner!

12. Focus on your body

Clean up your act. That means drinking less, eating healthier, working out more. Make a good diet + fitness plan for the after-wedding madness. WMG #LinkLove: The My Fitness Pal App is a wonderful tool to stay healthy, just check it out and you'll love it!

13. Start a savings account

Already have a salary account? Great. Now get a savings account separately where you can transfer a specified amount of money into it each month. Marriage doesn’t translate to paying bills! Having your finances in order is not enough. Get into the habit of saving at least ten percent of your salary WMG #LinkLove: The Indian govt has put together some great saving schemes and accounts.

14. Trip with the girls

Travel with your sisters and closest girlfriends. Not saying you can't do this after, but there's something especially liberating, eye-opening, and bond-bolstering about doing it beforehand. WMG #LinkLove: Air BnB has some great places you and your girl-friends can stay for a fraction of a price. Live the adventure!

15. Live alone

Or with roommates. But not with Mom and Dad. Autonomy is awesome! Plus, having lived alone makes you grateful for the things your spouse contributes once they're in the picture. Living alone can teach you many things - how to get a gas connection, how to manage a home within your budget and how to entertain on your own. WMG #LinkLove: Good post on the perils and pleasures of living alone. Remember, everything is a lesson.  21-wedding-goa-020

16. Eliminate baggage

Learn not to sweat the small stuff. Life is much too short to dwell on what you cannot control. Mails and FB messages from ex-boyfriends - delete! Toxic friends - remove! Relatives who crib - ignore! Co-workers who bitch - move away! Start on a clean slate. WMG #LinkLove: How to remove toxic people from your life is a great and awesome read.

17. Do something good

Get into the habit of doing something great for others each day, even if it’s holding a door or letting someone go ahead of you. Paying it forward is rewarding, and Karma truly does exist in all shapes and sizes. If you want something permanent, do bigger things. Find an NGO that suits your cause and contribute! WMG #LinkLove: Find a cause, contribute to a path-breaking discovery, do more at Indiegogo

18. Develop a good morning routine

Unwrap every new day as a precious gift. Make it a habit to start each morning with the intent of making that day better than yesterday. Develop a good morning routine in stone - that's the key to your life! WMG #LinkLove: Read all about the morning routines of successful people. That's the stuff of good things.

19. Talk religion/ spirituality

You and your husband share different beliefs? Great ! Make sure that each of you understand and respect the others differences before hand. WMG #LinkLove: The Lord Muruga Pooja App gives you a virtual pooja experience. With bells and aarthi and things.

20. Do a course you always wanted to do

An entrepreneurship course you have always wanted to do or a residency you wanted to stay at - or even a correspondence course you can do, this is the time to do it. WMG #LinkLove: Young Women's Leadership Program is a wonderful college that offers a part-time one-year MBA
