8 Simple & Useful Things To Carry For Your Pre-Wedding Shoot!

BY Soha | 19 May, 2018 | 6042 views | 6 min read

I will not lie- I had once thought pre-wedding shoots were a passing trend. After all, you get thousands of pictures clicked throughout your wedding; why would you need more? But I had never been more wrong!

Pre-wedding shoots are a rage amongst couples right now. If you are getting married anytime soon, we are sure that a pre-wedding shoot must be THE ONE thing that would be making you nervous and excited, all at once! Thinking about all those cute poses, coupled with interesting hashtags and oodles of new ideas gives us goosebumps too!

Have you made your bookings? Have you decided upon a photographer and the location, and thought about a thousand different poses that you are planning to try? If you are nodding your head in affirmation, we have a list of everything you will need to carry for your shoot… keep these in mind and you are going to be sorted!

Bring A Set of Extra Outfits

Think of a dupatta flowing with the soft breeze or a dress gently swaying in the wind. Who doesn't like these almost Bollywood-like pictures? To get pictures with some filmy gorgeousness, choose outfits that are flowy, something that flutters and moves with the wind - just enough to create some drama in your pre-wedding photographs! We suggest you choose clothes that speak your personal style and are in sync with the location for your shoot. Go for solid colours to get amazing results Also make sure you do not choose colours that you would be wearing in your wedding functions. After all, you wouldn't want to end up in all the same colours, would you?

But listen, brides and grooms! Do not have too many outfit changes - you would not want to waste a lot of time changing clothes and getting your makeup done.

Carry Some Comfy Footwear

Pre-wedding shoots can take HOURS to complete and may involve A LOT of walking. Come on, did you really think all those pictures in a meadow are clicked in one spot? We suggest you wear something flat and comfortable for all those long walks. Comfort is the key. Because nobody likes pictures with dull and tired faces. Brides - make sure you carry footwear in nude or neutral shades- after all, who wants to carry all that weight of too many footwear around?

Get Cosy & Intimate - And Bring Along Anything That Can Help You With That!

(May we suggest wine. *winks*)

Hands-down, a professional shoot is bound to make you nervous. The key is to keep it real. Just be yourself when you are together. If you need help, a little company never hurt!  Ask a friend to tag along. Or go ahead and play your favourite songs to get you in the mood. After all, who doesn't love dancing shots! If you think some wine will help you two relax, we say AHOY!

And don't forget to laugh if ever you feel silly (because with all that posing, you just might!)

FUN FACT - The best photos will be those where you are completely in the moment versus when you are especially making an effort to do something for the camera. Don't believe us, let these pictures convince you!

Makeup Essentials For Touch-Ups

Brides, there is nothing better than getting a makeup artist to accompany you for the shoot. After all, these are pictures you are going to hold onto for the rest of your life and you would not want to look anything short of a dream. However, if that does not work out, we suggest you carry a mini make-up pack with everything that can help you touch up and refresh your look between all the outfit-changes. Make sure you also carry sufficient safety pins and hairpins, along with tissue papers, blotting papers, and wet tissues.

Props That Tell A Story

You can add interesting elements to your pre-wedding shoot with some fun props! How about you re-create your wedding proposal on your pre-wedding shoot? We say, ask your partner to get on his knees and pop that ring again! Throw some autumn leaves in the air a la Veer Zara and you will have that picture perfect frame!

You can also use paper props (well, we wouldn't mind paper planes flying all around, right?) fairy lights, flowers, or balloons to create different moods and scenarios. We also see a lot of couples bringing their puppies along for their pre-wedding shoots. And who can ignore the new trend of getting clicked with cute looking good? Cupcakes, anyone?

A Mini Fan To Survive The Heat

If you plan to shoot outdoors, you might also need to carry a mini fan. They are compact, easy to use and work wonders to keep the heat away. Mini fans will also save you from sweating and preventing your makeup from melting. We suggest you use micro USB mini fans- just plug them into your phone and you are sorted!

An Umbrella To Save Yourself From Bad Weather (and more!)

What if the weather goes bad? What if it's too sunny, or it begins to pour down? Take our word, an umbrella will act like a saviour during your pre-wedding shoot!

(Psst. You can always use it as a prop to get some interesting pictures! Imagine Raj Kapoor and Nargis in that iconic black and white picture?)

Carry Some Food To Keep You Going

Pre-wedding shoots can take hours to complete and may involve a lot of movement. Of course, you don't want to tire yourself out. We suggest you carry some light snacks and drinks to keep you refreshed through the day. Gorge on nuts, or light snacks like a sandwich- anything that keeps you going. But make sure you don't stain your clothes or ruin your makeup! Brides, don't forget to carry some straws too. After all, we wouldn't want you to ruin your lipstick!

Here's hoping you feel a little confident when you go for your pre-wedding shoot and have oodles of fun!
