A Beautiful Chandigarh Wedding With A Resourceful Bride!

It's not easy being an effortless bride. But our bride today, Avantika wore no makeup at all - just gloss and a liner and she rocked her wedding to the hilt. Her skin was practically glowing. While her makeup was effortless, her wedding was the one where she used all her energies and one look at the pictures and you'd know how thoughtful it is. From fun Mehendi decor to co-ordinating her lehenga with the decor to her music choices to her outfits, everything was planned by her. The venue, Gymkhana Club, Panchkula gave her a beautiful backdrop to work on while Photographer Tuhina Chopra Photoworks made sure the wedding pictures spoke volumes about her personal style!
Meet Aditya & Avantika
"Aditya and I had grown up in the same neighbourhood but became friends in
Delhi. With time we grew to like each other and decided to take the plunge" explains Avantika.
The Wedding
From The Bride:
I was my own wedding planner since I have a limitation of being obsessive and micro-managing everything. I wanted my guests to experience the wedding my way, hence, I made extra efforts to hand pick everything that was a part of my big day.
My makeup
I love simplicity and wanted a clean and minimalist look for all functions. I did not wish to wear too much jewellery or accessories like matha patti since it has been done to death. For me, I just had a handy eye-liner and my lipstick to complete my bridal look. I didn’t want to wear make- up because I didn’t want to promote the idea that you need make-up to look beautiful. I hired no make-up artist despite my photographer trying multiple ways to convince me. I took immense care of my skin and kept it hydrated. My friend applied eye liner and lipstick and in just 20 minutes, I was ready to walk the aisle.
My Outfits
The groom suggested I wear a golden and Ivory lehnga for the wedding as opposed to the bright colours usually worn by many brides. I started by finalising the colours for all ceremonies that will suit my skintone- Green and pink for roka, Orange for pooja, blue for welcome lunch, green for haldi, yellow for mehndi, red for ring ceremony and cocktail and gold and ivory for the wedding.
Pre-wedding shoot
Both Aditya and me did not want to do a pre-wedding shoot as we were not very comfortable with idea. I wanted to do a shoot with my family as they have been and will always be the most integral part of my life.
My trousseau
I shopped for my trousseau over a span of couple of months from Anantam, Aza, Carma, Ogaan and Evoluzione and wanted a mix of western and Indian. Once my trousseau was wrapped up, I got my friends to paint on personalised trunks and customized them to make them look ethnic and quirky.
My wedding favours
I wanted my wedding favours to be unique so it was an organic hamper which my friend Kavya Chandra helped me in the process. Kavya sourced all products from farms across the country and she put together a very thoughtful hamper consisting of Muskotia Hiprose tea since I am tea lover, a body scrub, home-made oil and soap and an organic detergent bar. Along with all this, Kaigal wild honey, a packet of cashew crunch and a diary with handmade paper was packed in a basket made from water cress grass.
My Mehndi favours were made in the same colour combination as my lehnga and the décor. Tie and dye dupattas, gotta-patti bangles and sweet saunf in mehendi cones made a perfect gift for all the bridesmaids and ladies.
My decor
For the Décor, I had clear vision- I wanted my costumes to blend in with the décor. So I decided on decoration after I bought my outfits for all functions. I wanted a team that could execute all my ideas and Seven Vows Weddings & Events delivered way more than what I had expected. My Mehndi function was on the theme of a ‘Mela’ so there were pinwheels, paper fans, gotta-hangings, hand-painted parrots and mirror trays for centerpieces.
For the wedding, I had envisioned an elegant and a classic affair so opted for muted palettes and elements with white being the dominating colour. Mogra and rajnigandha flower hangings adorned the venue and bright pink roses were used to break the monotony of white. Tons of candles were placed in every corner as I was completely averse to halogen lights.
Music & Stationery
Loud music was a complete ‘No’ and I wanted mellowed and soft music for the wedding. It was in Bangalore that I fell in love with the super-talented duo of Bryden and Parth. They set the mood and vibe of the wedding with their beautiful renditions of Bollywood music.
My friend Milan helped me prepare itinerary cards and we had colourful caricatures printed on the card. I did not want guests to post pictures on social media till my photographer delivered her work. To avoid this I had little cards printed with cute note requesting people to enjoy the functions and not be paparazzi.
