A Beautiful Kerala Wedding With Breathtaking Decor

BY Aakanksha | 14 Oct, 2019 | 5821 views | 6 min read

A gorgeous mix of North & South cultures, this Kerala wedding was all sorts of pretty! Aasheekaa wore some breathtaking outfits, from the colourful mehendi lehenga to the traditional red kanjeevaram for her wedding. By the sea, on the beach, their wedding was truly breathtaking. Atisuto★ 4.6 did a stellar job with the decor, making sure to bring Aasheekaa's vision true to life. Naman Verma Photography★ 4.9 shot the wedding beautifully and captured the most adorable and candid moments spectacularly.

Meet Aasheekaa & Vinayak

Aasheekaa tells us how she met Vinayak, in a total stroke of luck, "Vinny and I met at a friends house on a rainy and cold winter Saturday night. The connection was instant. Time stopped still while our conversations ensued and before I knew it, 90 minutes had passed. Vinny asked me out immediately and we had our first official date the next day. 7 hours later... the rest is history."

The Wedding

From The Bride:

I envisioned a wedding that is intimate, fun and celebrated both North & South cultures. Weddings are inherently stressful & emotionally demanding, but I wanted the focus to be on creating memories & ensuring us and all of our guests had a great time.

My style brief was classy minimalism. I wanted the decor to facilitate in creating a fun, positive and happy vibe. While I wanted it to be beautiful & unique, I didn't want it to be stuffy. We had a beautiful venue to work with & wanted the decor to add to the natural landscape without overpowering it.

Vendors Reviews:

Makeup: I booked Van Kris online and didn't even get a chance for trial due to logistics. Van was a true professional! We reviewed all of our looks in advance and had detailed noted to refer to through the weekend. I entrusted her and let her create magic. I like her subtle, minimal makeup style. I never wanted to be a "cakey" bride & Van helped me achieve glam looks all weekend long.

Photography: Naman Verma was our photographer and we were so lucky to have Naman and team capture our wedding. His work truly speaks volumes. We wanted someone to capture moments, not posey pictures and Naman has done that just brilliantly. In addition, he is super humble and chill and easy to work with.

Videography: House on the the Clouds completed my dream wedding team. They are simply magic! Again, I was blown away by Siddharth’s humility. They were present throughout the weekend and were always fully on. I didn’t give them any direction - just told them to do what they do best, which is poetry in motion.

Our wedding wouldn’t have been complete without HOTC + Naman Verma.

Decor: Sabah is nothing short of a master at her craft. She took her time to assess my vision and provided thoughtful input and creativity. Atisuto and team are energetic, creative, and out of box thinkers. Whenever I shared a reference with them, they ensured me they will come up with something better. And they truly did. My vision was brought to life thanks to Atisuto and again, working with a professional team, especially when planning and coordinating a wedding from abroad, was a relief!

Mehndi Artist: Mehdika, another vendor I booked virtually, without a trial. I wanted to incorporate our love story in the Mehndi. One arm featured the Manhattan skyline, whereas the other arm showcased Chicago. I requested her to show me a sample via WhatsApp. Once I saw it, I was comfortable with her and went ahead. It took a total of 7 hours but was worth the effort!
I truly planned to have my Mehndi done during my event and I’m SO glad I had it done in advance so I could actually enjoy the event.

Bridal Outfits:

For any bride-to-be, wedding outfit shopping is a task in it of itself. I had only 10 days to sort all of my outfits, along with my husbands, and my parents and brothers! Do your research ladies! If you find pieces you love, contact the designer. Every piece is not available at every location so some planning will go a long way. For my outfits, I knew what I wanted for 2 events, and was more flexible with the other 2.

Ceremony - I knew I was going to be a traditional South Indian bride and I wanted to find a sari that spoke to me. Even after viewing designer kanjeevarams, I found my beautiful sari in a classic shop in Matunga, where all saris are one-of-a-kind and woven at a mill in Chennai.
I believe your wedding sari finds you, you don’t find it.

Reception - Since I am a Sindhi and we typically wear lehengas for our weddings, I opted to wear a lehenga for my reception instead. I had my eye on a specific Sabyasachi piece for several months. It was cream, raw silk and earthy glam - exactly my style. I danced the night away in my Sabyasachi and felt every bit a princess. I can’t wait to wear it again!

Mehendi - We really spent a lot of looking for the “perfect” outfit. I shortlisted a few but nothing felt just right. Until I found Siddhartha Bansal. It was love at first sight! Vibrant, peppy, fun and unique! I wore my outfit as a crop top and skirt/ skipped the dupatta and even kept my jewelry simple. I let my mehndi be my greatest accessory, along with a fun floral crown.

Sangeet - The Sangeet theme was “Secret Garden,” something I was particularly excited for. Since it was outdoors and in the evening, I went fully glam with a stunning Astha Narang piece. The gold sequences complemented the decor just right. I wanted to be very comfortable at my Sangeet and the Astha piece was lightweight and just perfect.
