A Gorgeous Delhi Wedding With No Traditional Customs

BY Aakanksha | 13 Mar, 2020 | 5055 views | 4 min read

Pallavi and Rajat have known each other since forever and when they tied the knot, they knew they were getting married to their best friend for life! A crazy celebration with a lot of fun and partying, their wedding was a beautiful affair. What also touched our hearts was how the couple chose to have the customs that were mutually respectable to the bride and groom and let go of things like Kanyadaan or special poojas for the groom. Shutterdown - Lakshya Chawla★ 5 captured it all in vivid detail and we bet you'll feel the happiness exuding out of these photos.

The Wedding

From The Bride:

Our wedding was a two day, absolutely hectic, crazy affair. Whoever says the couple doesn't have fun at their own wedding was absolutely wrong! Rajat and I (also known as #Pallat now) had a blast. Our wedding was about celebrating love - drinking and dancing till 5am every morning with the people (family and friends) that matter the most to us. We've been dating for so long (and are the first couple in our friend circle to get married) that everyone's enthusiasm level was extremely high at this wedding. Our wedding was also a lot about equality and mutual respect more than anything else - it was our choice to do away with rituals that I didn't feel comfortable with such as Kanyadaan, Boy's separate pujas, mangal sutra, head veils (chunni) etc.

Vendor Reviews:

Morbagh for the wedding, Hyatt Bhikaji Cama Place Delhi (Mansion) for the Cocktail and my house for the mehendi (it's the house I was born and brought up in so extremely special to me). All our venues were stunning and we couldn't have picked more appropriate places. Standouts for us were: - The food at Morbagh is fantastic. The glass house at Morbagh is also such a pretty feature. - The service and sound system (very important for a cocktail) were exceptional at Hyatt.

Pooja Khurana (Makeup) and Archana Rautela (Hair). Couldn't have picked a better team. And honestly, I wouldn't have looked half as good if it wasn't for them. Pooja and her team are extremely professional and made me so feel comfortable throughout the whole process.

Shutterdown. We've already booked them for all our friends' weddings since! Honestly, I researched a lot and have seen a lot of wedding photos / videos but few are as good as these guys. Each and every one of their team members is above and beyond amazing! Rajat and I hardly gave them any time for photos but they captured our essence so beautifully, even our family / friends couldn't believe how incredible the photos were when they saw them! Cannot recommend them enough.

The Elephant Ride by Meghna and Shirish. We loved everything they did. Throughout the process, Meghna became like family helping us out.

Sabyasachi (wedding) and Seema Gujral designs (for mehendi and cocktail). Both perfectly suited my style!

Alankritaa by Rashi - her team was amazing, they got exactly what I wanted (minimalist mehendi) and Rashi expertly coordinated everything even though she wasn't even in the country.

Sawan Gandhi (wedding), Anita Dongre (mehendi) and Dewan Sahib (cocktail). We loved everything, but especially loved the ensemble put together by Sawan for Rajat's wedding outfit.

Invitations by Arushi. The job she did was impeccable. My sister and I were quite particular about what we wanted, and she executed it perfectly. A beautiful ivory glass box without any initials so it can be reused by everyone. The whole thing was also done without any plastic used whatsoever, and the paper we used was recycled! Everybody called to tell us how beautiful are invites were - all credits to my sister and Arushi! Highly recommend Arushi for all invite / gifting needs.
