A Minimalist Lockdown Wedding With A Temple Ceremony

BY Aakanksha | 22 Sep, 2020 | 2405 views | 4 min read

Our coronial couples have really shown us how to make the best of any given situation! Where, many couples have decided to postpone the wedding, many have tied the knot with just the closest of friends and family. Sahitya & Jishnu did the same. They initially decided to postpone their wedding but they knew that they wanted to start the next chapter of their life at the earliest, and so they went ahead and got married! Captured beautifully by PEP Weddings, this simple and minimalist wedding was truly heartwarming.

The Wedding

From The Bride:

Our original "big day" was suppose to take place on June 1st in Coimbatore, at a star hotel with an evening dinner party followed by wedding next day morning. We spent 6 months planning our big day with hopes to spend last month relaxing, only for COVID-19 to ruin all our efforts. My beautiful fiancé and I decided last minute to go ahead and have a small wedding with ceremony telecasted virtually to both our parents and all our relatives and friends who were not able to travel right here in Bangalore where we both work and live, and it was perfect. We will still have our reception at a later time, but we knew we wanted a marriage, We wanted to be united as one — how we celebrated didn’t matter.  So we started from scratch, with a few weeks left for the D-Day.

We originally weren’t going to wear our wedding outfits because we left it all back home with our parents, then decided at the last moment to go ahead and do it anyway with another last minute shopping, we fumbled through the Zoom video call with our loved ones, we had humble idly vada and sambar instead of the elaborate menu we finalised... but “I was the most beautiful bride with my hastily put together outfit” in his own words and it was perfect. This virus forced us to relinquish and just let it be what it was — a whirlwind of a day that was perfect in its own way. Coronavirus may have cancelled our wedding but it did not cancel our marriage.

Vendor Reviews:

Makeup Artist: Ramya Makeup Artist
Makeup was done by Ramya Makeup Artist based in Bengaluru who was a recommendation from our wedding decorator. She did great, used MAC products and charged a nominal fee.

Photographer: PEP Weddings
My husband and I had the pleasure of booking and working with ‘PEP Weddings’ to capture our special day. From our first initial enquiry email until receiving our photo’s we could not have asked for a better service. Sumanth at PEP weddings was extremely responsive to any calls, WhatsApp messages or emails we sent before the wedding which helped put our minds at ease. True emergencies often inspire creative thinking of highest order and exemplifying it in real sense are the professional photographers at PEP Weddings who are harnessing technology to keep their work going and creating beautiful memories for their clients amid the lockdown. The team arrived on time (5.30AM in the morning!) and was very professional, mannerly and so nice and easy to deal with. I need a huge thesaurus to come up with all the superlatives to describe how great you guys are. What can I say other than you are ‘outstanding’ having the team capture moments that we will look back on and treasure forever, specially given the times we are in today, is SO incredibly special. We loved hanging out with the boys (Chandru, Rajesh & Spandy), you were such a big part of our day. Thank you for agreeing to come all the way from JP Nagar and also having to deal with the unexpected changes and uncertainties of a lockdown wedding. Thank you again for your patience and sticking with us during the ever changing schedule and plans due to the lockdown and making our budget marriage look like a dream destination wedding! We can't stop looking at the photos!!!!
