A Serene Wedding In Udaipur With Buddhist Rituals & A Lockdown Love Story!

BY Sakshi | 16 Apr, 2021 | 7366 views | 6 min read

Now this wedding is as coronial as it can get- it has all the right ingredients.. a unique lockdown love story, a destination picked that's far from the madding crowd, Buddhist rituals in an intimate setting because of its values, and of course, an offbeat bridal lehenga and gorgeous decor! Sweta and Sameer's wedding planned by Events by Krunal Parekh★ 5 was as unique as it can be, and we really think there's a lot of pretty inspiration in here for all those of you planning your wedding!

Meet Sweta and Sameer

We met on Facebook! It was me who spotted him in one of the comment sections back in Sept 2019 and slid into his DM out of curiosity! Not really wanting to strike a friendship, I didn't accept his friend request for quite some time, but when I did, we got along like a house on fire! Interestingly, we only kept chatting on FB Messenger and none of us exchanged our numbers for an entire year! During one of our infrequent chats, Sameer popped the question in August 2020 all of a sudden! And there's been no looking back since then! We fell for each other without even meeting once! Not just that, we also planned our destination wedding in Udaipur without even having met!! Everybody called us crazy but we both knew we had found what we had been looking for all our lives.

From the Bride:

Ours was an iconoclastic marriage in every sense of the word. We wanted to do away with the caste and religion based wedding rituals altogether. So, we chose to get married in an intimate Buddhist ceremony since its values and ethos of gender equity, peace, and humanity matched ours. Hence, the wedding style had to be simple, minimal, and yet elegant. We both wore ivory outfits ourselves and the guests were also requested to come in pastels on the wedding day. The entire wedding day decor was kept natural and minimal, and was themed around pastels only. Calling it beautiful would be an understatement. It was heavenly. Celestial.

Vendor Reviews

Venue: Fatehgarh Palace, Udaipur

Since we both were pretty excited to do a palace wedding, we zeroed in on Fatehgarh Palace, Udaipur after some hunting. Goes without saying that this property is breathtakingly beautiful and has those royal palatial vibes still intact with its stoned walls, domes, and minarets. We both were enchanted by its entire hierarchical architecture that houses expansive courtyards, swimming pools, trees, and palatial heritage rooms. All this, surrounded by the majestic Aravallis. Truly, stuff dreams are made of!

Oh, what a team! Seriously! We absolutely couldn't have pulled this off at such a short notice if it was not for Krunal and his fabulous team! This man is a magician! Right from the day one, ever since we had a talk with him, it became clearer to us that he would be the one we're gonna choose to take care of our wedding. And they've done a fantastic job, literally! Right from our arrival at Udaipur to all the wedding functions, we didn't have to worry about a thing. We knew we could trust Krunal and his team completely, and they never broke that trust. I call him Mr. Dependable now. With his ever smiling face and a sense of calm, he's the man we would go to for all our problems. Totally recommend Events by Krunal Parekh.

Decor: Events by Krunal Parekh

I can't fully express how enchanted, and enamored, and in awe we all still are with the decor for each day of the wedding festivities! This wedding was planned at a relatively short notice, and although my husband and I had decided to discuss the wedding decor, the themes and elements with Krunal, we never got a chance to do that thanks to all the shopping that went on till the very last moment! But, as I stated above, the magician in Krunal took it upon himself to come up with the most unique ideas in the world that resulted in a decor that people had never seen before in their lives! Outstanding decor elements each day of the wedding festivities that left all of us speechless! Remarkable creativity and ideation went into designing the themes around our Buddhist wedding. The Sangeet and the D-Day decor were out of this world! It perfectly captured the essence of our personalities, moods, and ideologies with its minimal, sophisticated, and elegant theme, and all this, without never having met each other ever! That's why I call Krunal a magician! We owe the entire decor to him!

Radhika is so much fun to work with! Fearless, friendly, bad-ass, sporty, hands on, these are the adjectives that come to my mind when I recall the fun we all had during our photoshoots. Radhika and her team did a great job at making us feel comfortable and made us fully enjoy all the wedding festivities while capturing some great shots all the way. Love the way she works!

Bridal Outfits

Since I knew that my wedding day outfits would be the ones where I would be spending the max, I chose some fun, colorful, and quirky numbers from Paulmi and Harsh and Vasansi Jaipur for my Sangeet and Mehendi respectively. Special mention to ethnicstory.pune for curating my Haldi look with that yellow fun and quirky frill saree, my Mehendi blouse, and the rest of my droolworthy wedding trousseau. Further, the moment I laid my eyes on this ivory Lehenga from Chamee and Palak, I knew that it will fit perfectly with the pastel theme of our Buddhist ceremony. The consultation happened over phone and when I went for the trials, it fit me like a dream! The entire ensemble was ivory, including the side and the head dupatta. It was ethereal! After the Buddhist ceremony, we changed into a tuxedo and a gown for the cake cutting ceremony. So, I chose this masterfully crafted Dolly J studio gown for myself adorned with breathtaking artistry all over. It was the gown of my dreams, literally! Couldn't have been happier with the selection of my entire wedding trousseau.
