Blogger Masoom Minawala's Gorgeous Mumbai Wedding With Tons Of Inspiration!

BY Latha Sunadh | 23 Feb, 2017 | 18036 views | 6 min read

She's equal parts #Girlboss and equal parts Fashion blogger ,  he's a jewellery entrepreneur from Belgium. And their wedding was just plain magic with a bunch of swoon worthy ideas - right from the incredible Holi party (which we reported live on our snapchat) to the sweet CEO/CFO Chairs, the outfits (but of course) , the adorable decor detailing which told their love story and the magical wedding set. Masoom Minawala's wedding was trending all across Instagram with the hashtag #MissSFVirtualWedding and now you can see all of it right here on WedMeGood. Our favourite bits were also her song choices- she entered on 'Laadli' by AR Rahman and her solo dance number on the Mehendi was super unique as well. The photographs by Arjun Menon, Art Leaves A Mark and WeddingNama were amazing and captured the feisty girl and boy in the best way possible!

Meet Masoom & Shailin

"We met through a random introduction and then a couple of common friends. We had only seen each other once (for 15 minutes) before we fell in love over the phone. He called, then I called and we never stopped calling each other and it just seemed so easy and effortless to be around him. I met him in London when I was taking a short-term fashion course there and he was also studying at Nottingham University, so we managed to meet often in those 4 months. He proposed to me asking me to be his girlfriend on the London Eye Glass Bubble, sitting on top of the world (practically). Finally, after three years, he proposed to me on Marine Drive in Mumbai in a rather dramatic proposal that was featured on WMG" says Masoom.

From The Bride:

"First up, we had a Holi Party which was great fun. The dress code was ethnic white, and Shailin and I decided to break the uniformity with a bright, beautiful, mustard yellow.

For my Holi outfit, I wanted a flouncy look with lots of fabric, while maintaining an overall modern vibe. And Priyanka Modi from AM:PM recommended their signature wrap-around tie back blouse for me to balance out the ethnic mustard with a more contemporary feel. Lucky for me, we only played Holi with organic colours, and literally every ounce of rang is now washed off the outfit. I also worked with the splendid Bridelan team who were involved in the beauty and accessory styling, to bring the entire look together seamlessly" adds Masoom.

"I’ve got a weak spot for outdoor spaces and I desperately wanted at least some of my wedding functions to be in the day. I wanted the decor for this day to be a compilation of my favourite things with a blend of dreamy, mystical, bohemian elements and I found just the right person to make my dreams come to life. I came across Janki Desai from Altair Decor’s work at numerous luxury fashion events I was a part of due to work and the constant perfection in her details assured me she was the one. Janki and I worked together for almost 6 months to bring my far-fetched Pinterest dreams into something tangible. We had amazing decor elements - from White Garden Chairs for a relaxed theatre seating during dance performances, Picnic table-bench seating, Ferris wheels as table centre-pieces to represent London Eye (Where Shailin asked me out on a date 5 years ago) etc. My favourite was the Book & bulb hanging installation to represent my love for reading and the overflowing script photo booth with our love story inscribed within.

My Mehendi lehenga was ‘Magnificent’ as it was customised by Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla in the most effortless, prompt ‘meeting’ of my life. I love dancing and for the same reason, I didn’t want any restrictions in my outfit whether it was weight or a dupatta coming in my way. I absolutely ADORED the cape sleeves that I believe just lifted the outfit instantly" says Masoom.

"For my bridal lehenga, I visited Calcutta to have it customised from Anamika Khanna and narrated my precise vision to her, with the free will of letting her add her wizardry aesthetic to it. I wanted an Ivory base, a pastel palette, two dupattas, embroidery that would not over-weigh my frame and hints of a muted pink. At the wedding, we had mogra-laden jharokas blended with a mix of glistening chandeliers and Chiavari chairs. The grandness of the stadium, spoke volumes to me while Kesariya Balam’s melodic tunes, calmed my jumpy nerves. Looks like my brother had chosen the perfect musicians for my big day" adds Masoom.
