Colourful Chandigarh Wedding with fun rituals !

BY The WMG Bride | 15 Oct, 2015 | 4581 views | 4 min read

What we really loved about Sapna and Peeyush's sweet wedding ceremony was how they incorporated fun into traditional rituals. From exchanging thoughtful letters and gifts while getting ready, to  getting the groom to do tasks before he entered the wedding and the auto rickshaw as a vidaai vehicle.. The celebrations were in the 'Mecca of Cricket' in the tri-city, PCA Mohali and they were the first couple to get married there,  captured by Shutterink Photography. 12032039_1010354289026709_5585237288920390704_n

Meet Sapna & Peeyush

"I had moved to Bangalore in 2008 for dental school.  Peeyush was my classmate and we became good friends during the course of it but we didn't start dating till 2013. And almost immediately I knew he was going to be the guy I was going to marry." explains Sapna happily.

From The Bride: "My vision for the wedding was simple and fun! Right from the planning stages we had decided we wanted this wedding to be about us and our closest family and friends- after all the punjabis had to show the himmachalis how to party! Since I'm from Canada and Peeyush is from India, planning was extremely difficult and I faced my share of challenges but I tried to remain calm and flexible and learned to just go with the flow.  I was blessed enough to have around 50 guests fly in from around the world just to be a part of our celebrations. I was fortunate to have our accommodation in the same venue where we were hosting our functions, this meant that I was constantly surrounded by my loving family and friends at all times! All my cousins and friends made everything so special for me, I don't think those kids slept for three days! We included a lot of fun elements in our wedding functions such as the gola & cotton candy stand, photo props, our wedding hashtag, and my favourite- my decorated auto! I believe less is more and we followed that in every aspect of planning our wedding," adds Sapna.  "My vision for myself as a bride was that I be able to incorporate things that held significant meaning to me.  For example, my set was given to me by my grandfather before he had passed away, and my lehenga was yellow because thats what my mum had worn during her pheras. Overall, I wanted a classic look that was simple and elegant, nothing over the top." she adds.
"My style overall was simple and I knew for sure I didn't want to be spending lavish amounts of money on my outfits.  My shagun lehenga was a mix of teal and mint green and was not too heavy- I wanted to be able to party with my family and my fiance!  I had a light pink suit with hot pink capri pants for my mehendi, and for my sangeet I chose a slightly heavier purple shirt with golden palazzo pants." she says.
" All of our vendors were amazing and attentive to our needs.  The decor guys did an amazing job on the shagun day. But on the wedding day they fell really short, and my family and I were really disappointed. Shutterink were our favourite photographers - they captured everything we wanted from the preshoots to the wedding and everything in between," she adds.
