Elegant Goa Wedding With Pastel Theme & Perfectly Coordinated Bride & Groom Outfits

BY Aakanksha | 09 Dec, 2019 | 1858 views | 5 min read

Pastel weddings is a concept that is very popular and rightly so! They make for a beautiful setting specially when it's a day time affair. However, what took Divyanka & Krishna's pastel day wedding up a notch was the fact that they celebrated both their cultures in one unique manner! Divyanka wore a pastel lehenga while Krishna wore a traditional veshti and dhoti! It was truly a union of two cultures. We also loved the multi coloured lehenga Divyanka wore for her mehendi! Amrit Vatsa shot the wedding in a perfect manner and we bet you'll be bookmarking this one for inspiration!

Meet Divyanka & Krishna

Divyanka tells us how they fell in love while working together and found out that they were meant to be, "We actually worked together at the same law firm. He is 4 years my senior and during one Diwali party thrown by the office we started chatting and didn’t realise that we had been chatting through out the entire party"

From The Bride:

I would say our wedding theme was pastels, beachy with a very relaxed and picturesque vibe! Our mehendi was by the pool and had a tiki bar theme. Our sangeet was very minimal as we wanted the focus to be dancing and drinking and having a great time! Our pheras were quite unique as we did an arya samaj wedding and the ceremony was done in English by our amazing priest Mr. Manoj. The guests were completely engaged and were asked to participate and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. I had to fight back my tears so that my makeup wouldn’t get ruined! The dinner followed shortly after and was a sit down dinner which was preceded by roasts given by my father, my brother my friends and the grooms father and our boss from the firm we worked at! Krishnas side of the family performed a melody of queen songs and changed the lyrics of the songs to tell the story of him growing up and reaching the point of his wedding! Post that toast and performances we just walked around and met everyone. We didn’t have a conventional reception, there was no stage.

Vendor Reviews:

Cidade de Goa. Having attended many destination weddings myself I can safely say that Cidade De Goa is the best in terms of cooperation, and support. Everything happened so seamlessly and not once did the hotel say “no” to any of our requests. The food was outstanding. Guests still rave about the hotel.

Avan Sethna was my makeup artist. Avan and I hit it off almost immediately. She understood what I wanted and didn’t even once suggest something that would make me feel uncomfortable. It was fun collaboration with her and she has a very simple approach to make up which is skin care first make up later.

Amrit Vatsa was our photographer. Amrit is amazing at taking candid photos.

So the entire decor was very DIY. My wedding is the very definition of a Pinterest wedding as you may say. I had a very specific vision and it was executed brilliantly by WedKraft. They listened intently, executed perfectly and put up with my many panic moments. The decor was largely pastels and minimal. As cidade de Goa is such a beautiful resort by itself I didn’t want to take away from the natural beautiful surroundings of the venue. The whole idea was to accentuate the natural beauty of the resort.

Mehendi boutique - Aishwarya and her team are highly skilled and excellent at micro designs. All our guests loved their mehendi designs as they were unique and beautiful. Aishwarya very patiently did my mehendi and executed it to perfection!

I designed the wedding invitations using an app!

Bridal Outfits:

Mehendi - Akanksha Gajria. This woman is a genius. She’s got a great artistic vision and looks at you in your entirety and not just as a customer coming to buy an outfit. She will make sure your forward and jewellery goes with the outfit. Her fitting is incredible and the work on the lehenga speaks for itself.

Sangeet - Kalki. I wore a grey ruffled gown which I bought from Kalki. They have a great selection of affordable outfits.

Haldi - saree from Nalli. Simple, beautiful and understated is how I’d describe the saree from Kalki which was a pink and fuscia saree.

Phera and sit down dinner - Sabyasachi pastel pink lehenga- this outfit made me feel like royalty. It’s an outfit that evokes so many emotions not only in me but in people who say it as well. It’s the perfect wedding lehenga for a beach side wedding. I had accompanied a friend of mine to the sabyasachi well before I had even decided to get married and the minute I saw the lehenga I knew that it would be what I would wear for my wedding!

Groom's Outfits:

Mehendi - Akanksha Gajria - we both wore outfits that kind of matched. It looked like my outfit had played Holi with his! It was a lovely cohesive look! He wore a kurta and a tie dye jacket on top.

For the Sangeet he wore a suit made by Sayeed Bhaskar who was an excellent suit maker from Chennai. He also makes suits for our PM.

For the pheras he chose to ware a veshti which is a traditional Tamilian outfit as both of us wanted to wear the outfits of our own culture rather than match our outfits.
