Fabulously Warm (& Stylish) Outfit Ideas for Winter Brides

BY The WMG Bride | 11 Aug, 2014 | 3989 views | 4 min read

winterbride-indian   Brrrrrr. Its cold in here -  so you are getting married in December/ Jan in Delhi or having a destination wedding in the hills where the temperature is going to be dipping dangerously low ! You still want to look your stylish best, but you definitely don't want to freeze to death (Plus goosebumps are so not stylish right) ? While winter weddings have a gorgeous charm of their own (the foggy nights, the nip in the air, the kullads of chai encased in wrapped fingers), they can be pretty brutal on the bride who wants to make a style statement.  So when our reader Divya asked us a reader query on winter wedding style, we were totally stoked to do this article. aalia-bhatt-manih-malhotra-red-lehenga-003 sabyasachi-bridal-collection-2015

Full Sleeved blouses at Sabyasachi & Manish Malhotra , photographed by The Creative Lens

 - Full Sleeves Silhouettes Lucky for you guys, Full sleeved blouses in raw silks are all the rage. There is nothing more elegant than a sweetheart neckline, dipping a bit for a  blouse in a gorgeous color with rich full sleeves, and  little motifs along the arm. Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi both showcased beautiful, full sleeved blouses at the recently concluded Couture Week lustlist3

Real Bride Eesha wore a gorgeous red velvet odhni to keep warm

- The Odhni/ Wrap I don't know why more brides dont look at Odhnis as a gorgeous accessory. So an Odhni is basically a shawl in velvet with gorgeous Kundan embroidery on it and has beautiful borders. If you have a dupatta on your head, then consider taking a second drape with an odhni hung loosely across your blouse . It keeps you warm, and has this regal royal element to it.   -Lining your dupatta with pashmina One of the most genius ideas we spotted was brides who were wearing opaque dupattas (the non see through ones in georgett)- they would line the inside of the dupatta with a thin pashmina shawl of the same color. If you drape it right, the shawl doesn't show and pashmina is so fine and so thin that it adds no bulk to you while still keeping it warm. Ofcourse this wouldnt work for the dupatta on your head but would do so for any other drape. lustlist4

Real bride Shailaja wore gloves on her big day

- Gloves Ok , you are thinking we have gone crazy, but look at the bride above- she managed to rock gloves with a saree...and if you get stunning gloves custom made to your lehenga we actually think you would make an awesomestyke statement   - Leg warmers under your lehenga Okay, not a very sexy thing to do but hey when the temperature is 2 degrees, you rather keep your legs warm without anyone noticing (make sure your leg warmers are 3 quarter lengths). Thermals showing from under your lehenga would be an epic fail now wouldnt it? lustlist2 - The Anamika Khanna Cape Probably the most stylish accessory to hit bridal trends since the double dupatta, the Anamika Khanna cape might be sheer and stunning, but it manages to block out the cold. lustlist5 - Booties If you keep your feet warm, you don't really need to worry about anything else and wearing the slightly high booties you can ensure your feet still look gorgeous without making you freeze 10568816_743504655707566_8515125855542119777_n (1)

That is the gorgeous Pernia Qureshi walking for Meera & Muzaffar Ali in layers of fabric

  - Layering Not only does layering dupattas look stunning and have an old world charm, layering sheer, thin dupattas can actually block out the chilly winds and keep you warm. Want to know how to layer dupattas?- Check out our post on 25 dupatta draping styles

Quick Winter Wedding Idea we Love

Leaving Shawls / Blankets for the guests to snuggle with as your feras take place  and keep warm is such a thoughtful, fun, gesture! 001099cd131499c3677af758dc66f820
