First Person: “We Opted Out Of A Traditional Pre-Wedding Shoot And Made Some Gifs”

In the sea of cliche pre wedding shoots we get to see everyday, this special one really stood out! When we heard that instead of the same run-of-the-mill photo-shoot photographs, this couple got cute GIFs and stop motion videos made for their pre wedding shoot, it got us all excited! Add to that a wedding hashtag that is #PilotPatola, how cute is that? Over to bride-to-be Harneet now, who tells us all about their unique pre wedding shoot!

Meet Kunwarjit & Harneet

“Kunwarjit is from Delhi and a pilot with Jet Airways. And I'm a journalist turned PR from Bombay. That’s how our hashtag #PilotPatola was born!”

“We wanted something unique so the main reason for opting for animations over images was that we thought the traditional 'beautiful locations, beautiful outfits and beautiful pictures' kind of pre-wedding are done to death and are too mainstream now. We wanted to be as creative and get animations (GIFs, stop motions videos, cinemagraph etc) are more in trend, so thought of playing around with them. Secondly, the pictures also that we've got clicked, we've kept them as cute, natural and candid as we can.  

"We worked with Adhira from Lumos Films India who is a dear friend and a genius when it comes to her work. Because of the rapport we shared with her, we sat down and brainstormed on the ideas and what best we can do in whatever time we had in hand. We all three are of almost same age, so teaming up with people with whom your wavelengths match is the best thing to do."

"The experience of the shoot was extremely unique and great. We did not even feel like we were really doing any shoot as we kept fooling around and being our natural selves. I didn't want to dress up in some heavy outfits and have too many posed pictures and get tired at the end of it. We kept it easy going and with Adhira it was even more comfortable. Shooting for stop-motion videos was quite funny and a different experience. To create one stop-motion video, you have to get multiple pictures in similar positions after each second and a different expression in each frame. It was quite a unique experience to learn something new as well. We were very clear about the fact that whatever we made, it would be short and crisp. Because we have gotten bored of watching long endless videos. This way everyone can watch it quickly and since it’s a smaller file you can share it with friends and family easily on Whatsapp too!"
