15+ Of The Best Intimate Weddings We Featured In 2020: WMG Roundup!

BY Sakshi | 01 Jan, 2021 | 5942 views | 8 min read

If there's one thing that COVID has taught us, it is that love and happiness triumphs it all! Intimate weddings by definition changed- weddings were forced to become a more intimate affair and continued on a smaller scale, no thanks to COVID! We love how creative and hands on everyone got with their wedding planning and change in plans. Here are some couples who took COVID in their stride and overcame the hassles of replanning their weddings. These are some of our most favourite intimate weddings that we featured in 2020!

"We had finalized on our destination wedding to be on the 13th of April at the ITC Mughal Agra, until the pandemic came upon us all. The following lock down paused all our wedding plans indefinitely. We decided that the best way to kick start our new lives, is an intimate wedding, with our close families, following all possible safety guidelines."

"We planned the wedding in a very short span of time, amidst a pandemic which posed at being a bane but actually ended up being a boon for us. Now when I think of it, our wedding happened in the most perfect way possible. We had the most intimate wedding with just immediate family and friends in the backyard of my ancestral house."

"We had our wedding planned in June, but COVID! We came to the conclusion that there was no point waiting for things to settle and then have the wedding as planned. Instead we could stick to the date and get the 'lockdown/ quarantine' time to spend together, working from home beside one another. So we celebrated amongst the most limited numbers but zoomed in everyone we wanted there with us."

"I knew I wanted a wedding that would be different, hence Nikhil and I picked a desert location as opposed to a more common beach theme.  This grand palatial resort located literally in the middle of nowhere was an absolute dream. We organized everything from India itself via phone and Whatsapp. Our wedding was so peaceful and relaxed. No chaos, no stress, no drama. We were at ease, our families were at ease, and we could actually enjoy the function. I remember how serene it was - the elegant mandap, the beautiful quiet desert surrounding us, and the laughter of our families and the wedding mantras chanted by the pandit being the only sounds."

"We had an intimate yacht wedding in Singapore, where we exchanged our vows at sunset, surrounded by our close friends & family (in person & virtual). We were originally supposed to get married in Mussoorie at The Savoy on the same date but we decided to make the most of 2020 and instead of postponing our wedding date, we had a gorgeous sunset wedding that continued till the wee hours of the morning."

This intimate home wedding in Chandigarh was #goals! With just 150 guests, it was a beautiful setup with gorgeous floral details. The Anand Karaj decor, done using natures' colours with white flowers, wooden board and green elements, was breathtaking! However, it was Mannat's bridal look that absolutely floored us.

"The journey from #kapslocked to #kapslockedown. Our wedding was scheduled to be on 3rd May. Because of the lockdown, we had to postpone. After midnight of 3rd May, the rules were relaxed. With cases rising daily, we realised waiting wouldn’t really help. So we decided to find our happiness and go ahead with the wedding. Even though 50 guests were allowed, we thought it was too much risk. Even Rishabh’s parents weren’t able to come and joined over Zoom."

"We planned our wedding ourself since it was a lockdown. I made my wedding dress myself. I made a COVID-inspired sketch where I showed me and my fiancé looked inside a house wearing masks. I got my tailors and karigars to work from home and do embroidery with whatever material they had. I also made matching mask for myself."

"Our wedding was held during Covid at ITC Grand Bharat. It was truly a dream come true to see everything getting executed so perfectly given these challenging times. I could not have imagined a better venue. They truly made it a royal wedding. And the icing on the cake was that each room came with a private pool for all guests to unwind."

Nestled amidst the lush green environs, this malayali wedding was a visual treat to the eyes! Amrita looked stunning as a bride in her classic red banarsi saree, while Varun complemented her well in ivory. The decorations were kept to minimal with a beautiful canopy trimmed with mogra garlands & fairylights acting as the perfect backdrop to their nuptials!

"Ronil and I always envisioned our wedding to be an intimate, classy, and elegant affair. Even though we just had a week to plan, we did not want to compromise on our vision. We did all the things we would have done had it been in a non-COVID world. It was going be a surprise for me as well as the 7 guests at the venue and around 100 close friends and family plugged in via zoom. Every little detail of the day was just perfect!"

"We were to get married in December up until late-October, at which point it became clear that things weren’t likely to get better. With just two weeks to go, we decided to move up the wedding to November 12 without delaying it any further given the changing travel rules and the uncertainty of the pandemic. We went into overdrive to get everything in place. Both Arnav and I were very hands-on with the wedding planning."

"We always wanted an exclusive wedding but our idea of that was a 200-300 people wedding in Umaid bhawan but once the lockdown hit and the COVID situation started to get from bad to worse, we changed everything. This wedding reminded us all of how weddings used to and honestly, should be - it was an amazing weekend with so much fun and frolic and the whole affair was a fairy tale wedding for us. We all, friends and family, ended up bonding and partying together and it felt like the energy of 500 people."

"I always wanted to get married from home. We always wanted a intimate wedding, with our close friends and family. But in this COVID time, wasn’t easy to plan a small wedding but somehow we pulled it through."

"Sidd and I wanted a very intimate wedding and all thanks to Covid-19 we had it our way. We both wanted the wedding to be simple and traditional but super fun and our wedding was at my home, which is right behind the hotel we own. Both the families stayed at the same venue. So it was a party house for almost 10 days. From dance practices to dhol nights to Vatna, Sangeet, Mehendi and the Anand Karaj, everything was in the same place."

"Our wedding was an intimate home wedding with a guest list of 20 people. The vibe I wanted for the wedding was shades of love and joy with lots of roses. We had a magnificent rose ombre backdrop which was the highlight of the decor. The decor was just perfect with right colors and combinations of flowers."

"The wedding happened in my living room in New Friends Colony. - every thing was done at home, from the decoration to the bride and groom’s outfits. My mother is a fashion designer and she made both our outfits which was such a task in the lockdown. The food was made at home! The whole wedding was screened on zoom for our friends and families who are placed all over the world."
