Lakmé Salon Showcases The Gen-Next Brides Of India

BY Sakshi | 24 Sep, 2021 | 11035 views | 5 min read

The brides of India do not all look the same- from the North to South, our country is very diverse, and proudly so! There are distinct outfit, jewellery, hair and makeup looks for every region, and Lakmé salon took it upon themselves in collaboration with WedMeGood to showcase three diverse looks for the brides of Amritsar, Hyderabad and Kolkata. We love the play of colours and techniques to showcase how brides from one region can opt for such varied makeup and hair looks! From traditional with a touch of modern to edgy and playful, there is something for every kind of bride. Located all over the country, Lakmé salons are experts when it comes to bridal makeup and hair, and we love the versatility they offer when it comes to bridal makeup.

Hyderabad

Again, when it came to the Hyderabad brides, Lakmé created very distinct looks for three different brides. Our personal favourite was the look they created for a Nikaah, which was as regal as the city is! Take a look and pick some inspiration for your own bridal makeup.

Look 1: Regal and royal

Easily one of our favourite looks from this series, this one had a regal charm about it. The look for a Muslim bride involved swede swept curls with a passa, very natural yet polished makeup with dewy skin and smokey  eyes. The lips were in a shade of brown to complement the red outfit and the green jewellery, and we love how the hair was set to frame the face and the dupatta.

Look 2: The new age Telugu bride

A refreshing look for any Telugu bride, this one is all about colour and vibrancy. The eyes are smoked out with a fabulous shade of pink, and the lips bright and vibrant, in a flattering shade of pink. The skin is dewy and glossy, giving the bride the perfect bridal glow!

Look 3: Fun and fabulous

A look perfect for any of the smaller wedding functions, this one is fun and fabulous for you to dance the night away in. Open hair with flirty waves and makeup that’s matte while letting your twirlable outfit shine- this one is ideal for a fuss-free makeup look when it comes to the sangeet, engagement or reception.

Amritsar

For the brides of Amritsar, Lakmé created and styled three very distinct looks. What was great was that there is a look for every kind of bride- be it a bride who wants to go down the pastel route, something vibrant or stick to the tried and tested traditional red.

Look 1: Elegant Pastel

Pastel bridal lehengas are immensely popular right now, and for this we loved how the makeup was kept minimal and elegant to compliment the look perfectly. The eyes did all the talking, with a smokey effect to the eyeshadow becoming the highlight of the makeup. The skim was dewy and highlighted to show off the best features, and the lips muted in a nude shade. A very universally flattering makeup look across all skin tones for brides who want to wear a pastel outfit on their big day.

Look 2: Bright and Vibrant

Bright lehenga picks like orange, fuschia or yellow are extremely popular with Punjabi brides, and this makeup look let the outfit shine without making the whole look seem over the top. The eyes were kept dramatic, smoked out with some fluttery lashes, and the lips a soft shade of brown to complement the tangerine outfit beautifully. The skin was matte, with cheekbones accentuated using bronzer, and we loved the addition of a passa with side parted hair to make the bridal look stand out.

Look 3: Traditional with a twist

The third and final look created by Lakmé for the Amritsar brides was for the traditional red lehenga, which still remains a popular pick with brides. We loved the soft dewy skin, with lots of highlighting at the high points and even on the nose, adding to the bridal glow. The brows were kept strong and stark, with a pretty winged liner and glossy lips adding oodles of charm to this bridal look. Definitely a very pretty makeup look to pick if you don’t want to opt for the same old red lips with red lehenga that has been so done and dusted!

Kolkata

Kolkata is a city of course synonymous with a Bengali bride, but we loved how Lakmé created looks just beyond what is seen and expected. There were three totally distinct looks created by them, and they all are totally apt for a modern Bengali bride.

Look 1: Edgy and offbeat

Now this is a look that’s great for any smaller wedding function, and we love how edgy yet playful it looks. The eyes are made to stand out beautifully, complementing the mirror work outfit, and the rest of the face is dewy and fresh so that the makeup doesn’t look dull in comparison to the outfit.

Look 2: The modern Bengali bride

We love a fresh take on a regional bridal look, and this one is perfect for Bengali brides who are looking to be different on their big day, especially if it is an intimate affair. The makeup has a hint of pink in the eyes keeping in tune with the red lehenga, and the lips are a soft pink too, which flatters the bridal look beautifully.

Look 3: Classic and timeless

A Bengali bride to the core, this one shows how to do the classic bridal look beautifully. The makeup has hints of red keeping in tune with the outfit, and the rest of the face looks natural and gorgeous, to let the bride shine and not overpower her outfit, which has so much going on!
