Mistakes Grooms Make While Choosing Their Sherwani!

BY Sakshi | 25 May, 2018 | 2321 views | 4 min read

Boys! It's 2018, and for heaven's sake you don't have to stick to the same old boring image of a groom- you can shake things up, but without overdoing it! Groomwear could be extreme- it could either be too boring or so experimental that it looks OTT, so you have to take a middle path, which might be a wee bit confusing to take!

So to help you boys out, we came up with a list of mistakes that grooms make while choosing their sherwani, and if you're guilty of any of them, then correct it stat!

Not consulting the bride or picking up the sherwani before the bride picks up her lehenga

Sorry boys, but that's just how it is. It's easier to match or contrast a sherwani or the bride rather than the other way round. You both have to be in on the decision of the sherwani, it just cannot be a surprise!

Picking up something that's trendy but not timeless

Spotted a new silhouette or style you want to wear? Then wear it at one of the pre or post wedding functions and not at the wedding! Stick to classic and timeless for the wedding so you don't feel like it was a mistake 20 years down the line! Or wear it like this groom- We loved how this groom wore something trendy- the dhoti with the sherwani, but it was still timeless!

Keeping it boring

We love how this groom decked up his plain white sherwani with a floral safa! Keeping it timeless doesn't mean it has to be boring! It's 2018 guys- switch it up with something interesting too.. like a unique safa, pocket square or interesting hue/print! You don't always have to go down the beige/blue/brown/grey/black route. There are lots of interesting options for groomwear out there too!

Forgetting that soft colours and floral is an option for grooms too

Might sound very 'feminine' to you, but don't close your eyes and ears to it yet- there are such nice sherwanis in soft shades like pink, peach and yellow that might sound like too much to you, but they aren't. Oh, and also, unless you've been living under a rock, florals are great on grooms too!

Not paying attention to the buttons

We love how the rose gold buttons are adding so much more character to the outfit! The buttons on the sherwani can make a huge difference in making it look good, bad or classy. You should notice the buttons and really change them if you want to.

Not paying attention to the stole

Love how this groom has taken a heavy stole with a plain sherwani! The stole can make or break the look. It will depend on your sherwani and of course the weather too. You can go for something trendy like a floral or benarasi one for a modern look, and a pashmina or velvet one for winters to be the traditional groom. But one piece of advice? Go easy on it with a heavily embellished sherwani!

Going OTT with embellishment and not realising accessorising is an option!

Yes it is. Love how these buttons and the necklace are adding a pop of colour to the outfit! You can always accessorise a plain sherwani with a necklace or a brooch, but realise there's really no cure for an over embellished sherwani. You have to look like the groom- not let you outfit scream it!

Not realising personalising is an option!

Yes sir! Grooms are personalising their sherwanis with small little things which is a great idea we think! If you want to stand out in the sea of grooms, then this is a great way to do it!

Picking up something that cannot be worn again

Just like we tell the brides, we are telling you too- pick up something that can be reused so your sherwani becomes more worth it than it already is!
