Our Favourite Bride and Groom Colour Combinations That Worked Without Looking Tacky!

BY Sakshi | 18 Aug, 2017 | 6095 views | 4 min read

While it's mostly a safe bet to be all match-matchy at your wedding as a couple, it can get predictable and boring. It's always good to experiment a bit, and that can really elevate your outfits and make the photos pop! But doing it in a classy way is the key to it, and here are some couples who nailed contrasting bride and groom outfits to perfection!

Pastel Pink & Baby Blue : Contrasting Pastels

Pastels for brides are big these days, but we usually see the groom stick to white when the bride opts for a pastel lehenga. But two contrasting pastels look so so good! Mints, pinks, peaches and blues in pastel shades look so yummy on both the bride and the groom!

Both in Gold : Jewellery adding a break

Sasha and Samarth both wore ivory and gold but Sasha's bright blue jewellery broke the monotony by standing out.

The groom dons a darker hue while the bride wears pastels- works if the outfits are monotone and do not have any contrasting work on them or minimal other wise it might look too mismatched!

So here also if you can see, the outfits are in the same colour family, which lends a common element to both! The groom with a floral sherwani, while the bride in a monotone lehenga- whether pastel or bold, but it still works so well! The groom's safa can also be used to add a contrasting yet common element.

Both the bride and the groom are wearing different kinds of florals, but keeping them in the same colour family works without looking too cluttered. Red with maroon or pink with dark pink is a good option, but there should be some element that's common.

At a glance, there is nothing really common that appears in the outfits, but they go together so well! Matching a small element also works well in contrasting outfits, like this bride matching the blue border of her lehenga to the groom's sherwani- it's subtle, but makes it work so well!

It's such a small thing, but it puts the look together so well! Even if you both have totally contrasting outfits, this can still make them look like they have something in common! It has to be of the same shade, otherwise it won't work so well.

Picking completely different colors but same tones

While the yellowy gold of the bride stands out against the bright orange and turquoise of the groom, what ties this look together is that they are all in the same warm color family. The gold is a warm gold, the blue is a warm blue and the orange adds more warmth.

Keeping it in the same colour family, but both rocking different hues also works very well and looks classy!

No gold and embellishments - just outfits with threadwork that champion two colours- the dark and the light one! Looks so so good!

Two outfits that have nothing in common, but still work so well together! The shades that you both choose to rock in this case will matter a lot, they should be complementary- not just in terms of the colour, but hues as well!

So, matchy-matchy or contrasting? What will it be for you guys?
