Pre-Bridal Hair Treatments For Every Hair Type!

BY Latha Sunadh | 11 Jul, 2016 | 15095 views | 5 min read

On your wedding day, you’ll be photographed approximately eleven-billion times — which means the beauty stakes are high. While your photographer can probably retouch a few flyaway hairs or a bit of lipstick on your teeth, you’re better off preventing bigger blunders, like dull hair or faded hair colour. To help you look most beautiful on the big day we give you the best pre-bridal hair treatments that you can splurge on and even home – made treatments that you can save on! Result: Luxurious Tresses! First and foremost, it is essential that you recognize your hair type and then proceed with treatments or any kind of products.

Wavy and Frizzy Hair

Your hair is all over the place. It is not straight nor curly, but extremely messy and fizzy to deal with. Splurge - Invest in a Keratin Treatment - If you have naturally rebellious or frizzy strands go for an in-salon keratin treatment one month before the wedding so your texture is under control but hair doesn’t fall flat on the day. You can do this treatment 3 months before the wedding – one each month for long lasting effect. Save - Mash one ripe avocado, add a little olive oil and mix it well. Shampoo your hair and then apply the mixture throughout your hair. Let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour, and then rinse it out with cold water. You can then condition your hair to get rid of the avocado scent.

Curly Hair

Curly hair may look totally carefree, but we have to level with you. There’s actually a lot of work that goes into keeping them healthy and looking good. Splurge - If you are wearing your hair down or half up, you’ll need to get it looking as healthy as possible - especially the ends. Get an in-salon deep conditioning treatment done like Kérastase Fusio-Dose. We also like Aveda’s Dry Remedy Moisturizing Treatment Masque - It provides extraordinary moisture and suppleness to instantly transform even the driest, most brittle hair without weighing it down Save - Always keep a leave-in conditioner handy and do a deep conditioning treatment at home—at least twice a week. You should also massage your scalp with coconut oil, jojoba oil or Aloe Vera juice 1-2 times in a week.  Inspiration: Kangana Ranaut's curly mane!

Straight Hair

You are the most blessed category of all but that doesn’t mean that your mane should be ignored. Straight hair can be damaged or lose sheen due to pollution and unhealthy lifestyle. Splurge - Use a treatment to get your hair looking glossy – Kerastase Age Recharge is great for adding gloss to damaged hair needing a bit of TLC. Also, use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, like TIGI S Factor Diamond Dreams that contains pearl extracts and follow it up with a serum. Save - Add 1-2 tablespoons of honey to one cup of pumpkin puree and pack as much as you can onto your hair and scalp. You’ll need to wrap your hair in a shower cap to keep the mask in place. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes and then rinse.

Dull and Damaged Hair

Splurge - If your hair is beyond repair and is super dry, try the Keratin Complex Natural Smoothing Treatment. Your wedding is the perfect excuse to go for it. The in-salon treatment effectively stops humidity from messing with your strands and reduces frizz and flyways while boosting shine. The hair helper will set you back in the wallet, but it lasts as long as 5 months – so imagine beautiful pictures at the wedding AND honeymoon! Save – Combine 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons olive oil and 3 egg whites, and then rub the mix into your hair. Keep your hair covered for about a half hour using plastic wrap or a shower cap, then shampoo and rinse.   IMG_3209 (1280x853)

Pre-Bridal Rules For All Hair-Types before the Wedding!
  • Avoid the use of blow dryers, hair straightening products and hair styling products as far as possible.
  • Always have a trial-run to all your wedding hair-dos. You want to see how heavy an up do can feel or maybe see how a particular style looks on you. Be honest with your stylist as to what you like and don’t. It’s easier for her or him to make changes then rather than the day of the function.
  • Oil your hair once or twice every week with warm coconut oil or argan oil for soft, silky and manageable hair.
  • Include nutritious foods like dry fruits, avocados, fish, fresh vegetables and lots of water to your diet at least 6 months prior.
  • Get your hair trimmed every 2-3 months. Split ends = Dull hair.
  • Don’t make any drastic changes in the weeks up to the wedding. Impulse fringes, layers or drastic colour changes are often regretted. So stick with what you know.
