Pretty Pastel Wedding In Delhi With A Bride In Ivory

BY Latha Sunadh | 22 Nov, 2017 | 3696 views | 4 min read

Ivory lehengas with splatters of florals- those are right up our alley. Add to that a dash of blush pink, an elegant necklace and some flowers in the hair and you have the trappings of a classic WMG bride. Apart from that, the attention to detail at this wedding is so amazing - from matching safas to beautiful tents and drapes - so chic! The BSF Ashwini Officer's mess, Nizamuddin East played for a great host while photographer, Simran from Beginnings For You★ 4.8  knew how to keep it cool in candid shots.

Meet Kanika & Pahul

"We've known each other for a little over three years. We met at a common friend's party, chatted for a bit, found each other quite cute, and well, after that evening never really stayed in touch. A couple of months later I get a friend request on Facebook from him and we started chatting away and before we knew it we were dating!" says Kanika.

From The Bride:

We both are pretty organised about anything we do. You won't believe the number of to-do lists and Google Excel sheets we created to organise the wedding and other events, including complex Excel equations to determine how much liquor we needed for the Sangeet! And of course I used every bride's perfect guide - Pinterest and the WedMeGood app to get ideas for the wedding decor and for a few vendors, including my makeup artist and candid photographer.

Pahul and I got engaged on 29 October 2016, and since we wanted everything to align perfectly we decided to set our wedding date the following year on 29 October 2017 which happened to be a Sunday (we are that anal!) I also wanted to go for vendors who were tried and tested, so I opted for the same vendors we used for my sister's wedding - fewer headaches and negotiations with new vendors.

He's a Sikh and I am from Bihar, and so we definitely wanted to add elements from both our cultures to ensure that it truly represented our cultural heritage in subtle, yet unique ways. We also worked to get the smallest details perfect, for example, my mom and I got the safas for our relatives dyed in a beautiful blue colour that would complement the peach theme on the wedding day. I hired Simran from PhotozAapki to cover the candid photography for my wedding day, and boy was that a good decision! The most beautiful pictures were the candid ones. Our wedding theme and decor was subtle, muted and was in a colour palette that complemented our outfits and would work well during the day.

My wedding lehenga and jewellery were really the biggest love for me! I didn't want to go for the usual reds, pinks and peaches and I knew there are only limited options for a day-time wedding. I was sitting in the store, wondering if  would find anything but the next thing I know the store owner sends someone to get the most perfect lehenga (well at least according to me!). It had everything: it was off white, it had beautiful resham embroidery all over it in different colours, and a beautiful peach dupatta that would eventually complement the overall theme of the wedding and the decorations.

On the jewellery, I knew I didn't want to go for Kundan and Polki jewellery so I opted for diamonds which worked really well with the outfit!

However I do have some advice for brides. If you are the A-type personality, train your mind to relax on the functions! Don't try and manage too many things and learn to delegate. Another thing we learnt was trying to set aside enough time for couple portraits and hiring a good candid photographer for it.

Also if you want to relax on your mehendi function you may wish to get your mehendi done the previous evening (which I did) and that way I ended up having fun without spending endless hours sitting in one spot.
