Real Brides Reveal: Secret Places To Shop For Brides in Mumbai!

BY Apoorva | 27 Jul, 2017 | 4484 views | 3 min read

That million dollar question – “Where should I shop my bridal outfit from?” After all everyone is bored of the same old stores which all have the same collection so we asked our Real Brides to give us a fresh zing into our wedding wear list. And they told us all about the bridal stores (No, not Kalki & Roopkala) that you should shop from in Mumbai!

Movie'ing Moments★ 4.7

Ritika says

“It started from making one blouse and ended up with me creating my entire bridal trousseau here – including wedding outfits. I DIYed them in Mumbai! The three main places that will enable you to get anything are Mangaldas market (South Mumbai), Hindmata (Dadar) and the Santacruz market. Right from 200 gsm raw silk to the cheapest cloth, you will get it all here. And trust me when I say you don’t know the market by just knowing the names. Only after you have scoured every shop, spoken to 10 shopkeepers you will know the real deal. The best part? They help you a lot. Like a shopkeeper in Mangaldas told me to opt for a heavier gsm raw silk for my wedding lehenga since it was going to have work and lace on it while he said that I can save money by opting for artificial raw silk for my trousseau outfits which were simpler!”

Shalmali says

Poonam Saree Studio I got married a couple of years ago and was totally into buying a Sabyasachi but dint have the budget for it. PSS got me a similar piece for 1/4th price, I kid you not! . It’s in Juhu and surprisingly not a lot of people know about it. They have a hugeeee collection of sarees, suits and bridal wear.”

Shanaya says

“This isn’t a store but I picked up my wedding saree from it. It’s an exhibition that is held in Mumbai every year – it’s called Mahalaxmi Saras at Bandra Reclamation. It may seem like a regular exhibit but you end up getting the most exclusive pieces at almost half the rate. If you are into big names, this isn’t for you as there are no designers or couture pieces but they have quality over name. Sarees, cape tops, blouses, they have it all for you. It usually takes place in January every year  for 7-10 days so you just need to keep an eye out for it.”

Zainab says

“A relatively smaller name but Jiya by Veer Design Studio★ 4.8 will surprise you with its collection. Right from simple suits to wedding lehengas, they have it all for you. The store is simple and you might not think of it housing such a treasure but it really does. What I love about them is that they are willing to customize which a lot of upscale designers aren’t willing.”

Vedika says

“I am totally into sarees more than lehengas and I picked out my dream wedding saree from Ratanshree Kheraj★ 5 . They have totally unique sarees that you won’t find anywhere! Right from the most stunning Patola sarees to benarasi ones – they just overwhelm you. Tad bit pricey but totally worth the splurge!”
