Meet Kanika & Rakesh
Rakesh (my husband) and I met in Fall 2013 during our undergraduate years at the University of Pennsylvania (which is where he proposed 8 years later) and quickly became the best of friends. Since the moment I met Rakesh, it was just so effortless and easy for me to connect with him. After a few months of hanging around campus pretending to study, getting coffee together, going on lunch "dates", and taking long walks, we finally admitted to ourselves that we were more than "just friends" and started dating in Spring 2014. . He’s been my best friend for the past 9 years, he’s always wanted me to be unapologetically me, never tried to change anything about me, has always embraced my fierce attitude and has always helped me feel more confident with who I am. He’s prioritized me even on days when I haven’t been the best version of myself and that is something I’m lucky to have found in a partner.

From The Bride:
A Tale of Two Countries: I met Rakesh in college when we were just 19 (almost a decade ago) and one of the things that I think makes our relationship so special is that life has given us a chance to grow up together. Although our upbringing was quite different, I’m a Punjabi girl from Delhi and he’s a Telugu boy from the US, our wedding was only about one thing - LOVE and Mexico was the perfect destination to celebrate that LOVE. Despite spending our childhoods in two different countries, we’ve grown up to share so many of the same values and we were always on the same page when it came to how we want to celebrate our love with our families and friends. As a gift for your guests we also had a surprise performance by Mickey Singh at our reception.
