This Couple Had An Art-Inspired Cocktail That We Are Swooning Over!

Puja and Jai’s wedding celebrations were absolutely gorgeous. But what caught our eye was the cocktail theme, a celebration of Love and Art - in the truest sense. They christened it 'Night At The Museum', an amalgamation of master painters, contemporary, surrealist, impressionist, modern, pop artists and sculptors - all handpicked and curated by the couple. We loved how the couple brought the theme they loved personally to life for their most special moments! Over to Puja now as she explains their vision in detail.
The Night At The Museum
This theme was conceptualised in my mind long before I had met Jai. Although at that point it was just a musing of what an art-related wedding event could be like.
The Monet-Inspired Save The Date
Starting from our Save The Date which was a Claude Monet-inspired Lillies painting turned into an invite to the formal invite which drew inspiration from Claude Monet's Lilies and colour palette, complete with quotes from Marc Chagall - we were sure that it was a window into our wedding and what our intimate wedding's guests would experience in person.
The Planning For The Artsy Theme
This was the labour of love, countless hours, sleepless nights and a desire to create an everlasting impression on guests' minds. They had never experienced anything like it, a common takeaway from the night. After having spent years of learning about art and spending time in museums and art shows/galleries alike, I knew that this was the theme when Jai and I both wanted to eschew using florals or the mundane at a 'cocktail', our guests were going to be mesmerised by art and have the best night of their lives.
The Gorgeous NYC Style Entrance
Starting from the quaint venue, we wanted a NYC style 8th Ave building entrance with a canopy that invited everyone into the 'museum'.
Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'
Upon entering, we created our very own immersive Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' room - a space that was end-to-end panelled with the painting's print. A LOVE sculpture, inspired by Robert Indiana greeted the guests under a dewy (it was monsoon season) Banyan tree, this was of significance to Jai and me as we had taken a photo against an actual one at NMACC while we were dating.
Yayoi Kusama Inspired Staircase Design
A Banksy cutout of Einstein proclaiming 'Love Is The Answer', a staircase whimsically converted into a Yayoi Kusama's signature polka dotted photo op, a live painter painting Claude Monet's Lilies (but of course! It now resides in our living room for posterity) and a personally written introduction to the night by me awaited our guests who felt that it was an existing museum.
Sky Full Of Stars
The bathroom mirrors had art-related fun quotes, the grazing table had the sellotaped infamous banana artworks, the cake was Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' and as was all of the ceiling - covered in a million little lights mirroring the starry night in reality.
Art-Inspired Table Settings and Menu
The tables were set with art-inspired coasters, menus, drinks and even Jeff Koons' inspired dog decor pieces. The walls were covered in paintings and literature about the said paintings, as well as prints of the various artists, while their literature sat neatly on the wall space next to them, as if in a gallery (written by me).
Art Themed Jazz Music
Jai and I picked a jazz saxophonist to begin the night with, followed by a live band (started by his schoolmates) and then a DJ to carry us into the wee hours of the morning.
For our first dance, we chose a live singing of Presley's 'I Can't Help Falling in Love' and Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud', a combination that felt like a love ballad in a rendition strung together for this night.
A Gorgeous Personalized Corset-Style Gown
I twirled in a couture cocktail gown co-designed by Alpana Neeraj and me which took four months to design and execute, a classic white and black pairing with a corset entrenched in and made of pearls, an embroidery of our initials in pearls quietly sewn in the font created by me on one of the voluminous sleeve's trails, this was followed by my take on a gentlemen's tuxedo.
We have not only fallen in love but married as best friends and soulmates, waltzed and danced into our happily ever after, surrounded by artworks inspired by Jenny Holzer, Gustav Klimpt, Salvador Dalí, Van Gogh, Roy Lichtenstein, and Edouard Manet!
