This Intimate Delhi Engagement Is Giving Major Fairytale Vibes

BY Swagata Dam | 04 Nov, 2022 | 5081 views | 5 min read

A prince in a white suit kneeling down before his princess shimmering in a pastel blue gown - now, that's bound to give you major fairytale vibes. Anchal and Neel had an intimate engagement ceremony in Delhi and their photographs are as dreamy as they are as a couple. The two lovebirds look super adorable together in each and every frame and we can't stop gushing over their cute chemistry! There was some initial drama, some Bollywood dancing, and a whole lot of love on their special day - just like in the movies! Once in a while in the middle of ordinary life, life gives us a fairytale - that's exactly what happened to these two. Take a look at the aww-dorable jodi.

Meet Anchal & Neel

Our love story started in 2020, we matched on a matrimonial site and started talking. Within a span of 15 - 20 days, Neel told me he wanted to date me. The twist here was we lived continents apart - He was in the US and I was in India. We really clicked and wanted to give it a shot, so we started dating virtually. We used to video call everyday, do weekly date nights and shared our day-to-day things with each other. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions travel was not possible for either of us. He couldn’t visit India as he wasn’t getting US stamping dates. We had our timely breakdowns and arguments about the same, but we survived. After two years of virtual dating, we finally met in Sept 2022 at Delhi Airport. Our first hug was unimaginable, the moment was super special. The years of wait, late night talks and the leap of faith we took was totally worth it.

The Engagement

From The Bride:

  • Our day didn’t start on a good note. I was really anxious the whole day and had quite a few arguments with Neel. I was just too overwhelmed with everything.
  • To top it all, Neel reached the wrong venue. My anxiety hit another level. Fortunately, as soon as I saw Neel and he kissed me, all the anxiety left my body. After that everything was just magical and special.
  • Neel is a non-dancer, he made an effort to dance with me and not make a fuss about it. I really appreciated that! I wanted our dance to be natural and not choreographed, we just went with the flow. I chose a Salman Khan '90s song Mere Rang Mai Rangne Wali (since he is my fav), and also because I was literally dressed in Blue (Neel).
  • I had these diamond earrings gifted by my grandfather as a teenager for my wedding, and I wore them for my engagement. Even though he wasn’t there physically but I felt his presence and blessings with those earrings on my special day.
  • Walking down as a couple was truly magical and definitely a fairytale moment.

Vendor Reviews

Bride-to-be's Outfit: Bhawna Rao Couture

For my engagement, I always imagined my look to be something ‘straight out of a fairytale’ and I am so glad I got exactly what I wished for. For my gown, I wanted a very dreamy, sparkly and modern style. Also, wanted to wear a Blue outfit as it’s Neel’s favourite Color. So I chose Bhawnarao as I instantly fell in love with her designs. We brainstormed and worked on one of her designs and customized it according to my preference. Fun fact - As a kid, I wanted to be part of a beauty pageant. Even though that didn’t happen but it’s funny that I was dressed up by India’s top pageant designer.

Groom-to-be's Outfit: Kkartik Design

Neel put all his faith in me and asked me to pick an outfit for him. I love how Kkarik’s design are modern and wearable, nothing too jazzy! Even though my family was a bit reluctant with all-white look, Neel put all his trust in me and supported my choice. Thankfully, during the trial, everyone was convinced with the look. Also, kudos to the team as they made the outfit in 2 days.

Bridal Makeup: Aish & Shreya

I got dolled up by Aishshreya. Aishwarya did a commendable job. I wanted a soft and subtle look with glitter. She gave me exactly the look I wanted (princess like). I loved how she took all the specifications and worked her way through it. Not just the make-up, even the hairstylist did an amazing job!

Photographer: Gracini Studios

I have worked with them before for my professional shoots and they have even covered my family functions. Their team is super patient and makes every effort to get your perfect shot. For the very same reason, I hired them for my pre-wedding shoot as well. They did a fantastic job! Plus, their quotes are quite decent and doesn’t burn a hole in the pocket.

Engagement Cake: Pastry Palace Official

I wanted to match the color of our outfits with the cake, hence, I chose a white-and-blue three tier cake. I remember giving last-minute instructions on call for ‘Kneeling guy’ cake topper to match with our #kNeel4Anchal.
They shared the options they had, unfortunately, it wasn’t available.
But at the time of cake cutting, I was surprised to see the ‘kneeling guy’ topper on the cake, I loved the fact how they made extra effort to find and fulfil my last-minute demand. Really appreciate it!
