You’ve found the most amazing lehenga, the most offbeat décor theme and the most unique wedding favours, so why should your honeymoon destination be as common as Bali?! We know that it is exhausting to find the perfect yet unique honeymoon destination in Asia when everyone has been everywhere, at least on Instagram. So we decided to share our secret list of the top trending places in Asia that you can honeymoon at!

Hsipaw, Myanmar

Don’t tick off Myanmar from your list because it’s not as popular as Krabi. Take a trek into the villages around Hsipaw and find some amazing Shan culture within easy reach. You’ll be rewarded with waterfalls, farmland, natural hot-springs and genuine local hospitality. You’ll likely have locals invite you in for meals and you can see their homes and the amazingly laid-back lifestyle in which they live. You may even be able to teach English, if you come across Hope and her incredible school in Naloy village. What an amazing experience would that be!

Bukhara Province, Uzbekistan

Just because it has ‘istan’ in its name, you don’t have to be scared. Bukhara is one of the most magical places you will go to. You’ll feel like you are walking into this time capsule and find numerous structures looking just as they did hundreds of years ago. The city that was once the intellectual capital of the Islamic world is now a wonderland for historians and lovers of the past. Bukhara, along with the historical cities of Samarkand and Tashkent forms the famous golden triangle of Uzbekistan. The best time to visit Bukhara is in spring.

Kapas Island, Malaysia

How does nobody know about this hidden gem? Well some people do, the Malaysians and they keep it all to themselves. Don’t worry though, outside of holiday times you will probably be one of the only people on the island. How exclusive is that?! Stay at The Captain’s Longhouse and we promise that their hospitality will delight you. There’s nowhere quite like Kapas Island!

Pamukkale, Turkey

The "Cotton Castle" of Turkey is not new for the public eye. From times of the Roman Empire to the 21st century, people have been bewildered and wowed by this petrified cascade of mineral pools. The ruins of Heirapolis include temple structures, a massive theatre, a nymphaeum and a monumental arch (we dint even know what a nymphaeum meant – it’s a shrine dedicated to nymphs.) Don’t miss visiting The Plutonium, a temple dedicated to Pluto, at Heirapolis is built atop a cave that emits toxic gases. Worshippers believed that it was connected to the underworld, hence giving it the name "Hell's Door". The temple structure still stands and archaeologists believe that the Hell's Door still emits toxic fumes. Sounds pretty exciting!

North Maluku, Indonesia

In an archipelago packed with adventure, North Maluku is amazing to honeymoon at. There aren’t many places on earth where you can snorkel with walking sharks one day and head into the jungle to meet hunter-gathering nomads on the next, or dive an underwater volcano then visit a sultan’s palace. Gamalama volcano dominates Ternate island, which is replete with spice plantations and colonial forts. Every day is a new quest here!

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

The cultural and natural treasures of Mongolia start from the petroglyphs on Mongolian Altai mountains and end at the sand dunes of Gobi Desert. In between, you have vast expanses of national parks and ancient monasteries. But combining this rich heritage with mandatory modernisation is Ulaanbaatar. The skyscraper-studded capital of Mongolia is a manifestation of the adeptness of Mongolian people who efficiently carried their culture into the 21st century.

West Papua, Indonesia

Love scuba diving and snorkelling? We found the perfect place for you! The sparsely populated Raja Ampat Islands, which are located on the tip of West Papua, Indonesia, in the heart of the Coran Triangle is quite unknown in the tourist world. The islands host three-quarters of the world’s coral varieties, and include a setting of jungles, white-sand beaches, hidden lagoons, and thrilling caves. Adventurous much?

Hoh Xil, Tibet

If you love wildlife, this is the place to be! It's not hard to see why Tibetian plateau Hoh Xil is the world's third least populated area. Despite extreme climes, Hoh Xil, or Kekexili, supports up to 21 endangered wildlife species, including the Tibetan antelope, the wild yak, and the Tibetan wild donkey. The Chinese government lifted a ban on visitors to the ecologically fraught area last year, and now explorers can apply for five to six day eco-tours to Hoh Xil. So are you booking it yet?

Kratié, Cambodia

If you are looking at a quiet, non-commercial, long-walks-during-sunset honeymoon, Kratie is your pick! Lined with purple French colonial villas & traditional wooden stilt houses, Kratié is a little market town 216 miles north-east of Phnom Penh. At the nearby river island of Koh Trong you can see Cantor’s giant soft-shell turtles in the wild. After a short ferry ride, the Preah Soramarith Quay), you can enter a bucolic world of fruit plantations and rice paddies still tilled by Cambodia’s iconic white cows, the humped zebu. You can also visit the Kirirom national park where you can explore and enjoy your meals while surveying the green expanse of cardamom forests!

Yakushima, Japan

Nestling in the warm, sub-tropical waters 37 miles south of Kyushu, the towering mountains and ancient forests of Yakushima make it a secluded and largely unspoilt paradise. Kyushu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and hosts mossy forests filled with trees dating back thousands of years and soaring mountains to explore. The extremely wet climate means crystal-clear rivers tumble down from the high peaks, resulting in spectacular waterfalls. Think of a honeymoon waterfall trek! Lavish green, dense foliage provides the perfect home for the Yakushima macaque and the Yaku deer, both can easily be spotted foraging near roadsides and along hiking trails. How fairy-tale like is that?!
