5 Things we learnt from the Conde Nast Traveller Destination Wedding Special

BY The WMG Bride | 26 Feb, 2015 | 1892 views | 4 min read

1-condenast If a destination wedding is what you are after then you must grab the latest issue of Conde Nast Traveller which has a special supplement this time called "The Ultimate Guide to Destination Weddings". The magazine has dedicated page after page to destination weddings (mostly outside India ) with some helpful advice. Here is what we learnt: 1. Important questions to ask your hotel: The magazine outlines a number of important questions to ask your hotel-such as offering early/ late check out to all the guests staying. Asking about whether the venue charges seperately for time taken to set up decor (something international hotels may charge) and what are the hotels service abilities in terms of luggage handling. Do comment below to let us know if you would like us to do a detailed article as well on things to ask your hotel.   2. Unusual Destinations for your perfect wedding: While the regular Goa , Jaipur and Koh Samui are amongst the list, there are also some hidden gems like Oman (looks stunning in the pictures), Cambodia , Sri Lanka and Portugal. In India, Bangalore and Amritsar make the list too due to some stunning properties by Hyatt and Marriot and the lesser known but fabulous Ajit Bhawan from Jodhpur   3. Time your photoshoots in Palace weddings: If you are planning a palace wedding, remember that the architecture around is what will set your photographs apart. However, if the shoots are done later into the evening, you will lose the beautiful architectural detail around. So time your shoots before the sun goes down. Helpful tip that!   4. Pay attention to flights: While picking a location, you may not realise this but it can come to haunt you later. For example - From Delhi to Jodhpur you have only two flights going daily, which means if your guest list is slightly larger, they will have to come in at different days to accomodate themselves or take trains or alternative means of transports. Pay attention to flight timings, number of flights and in general the connectivity of your venue from the base city of your guests     5. Incorporate the destination into your wedding: There is no point in having a regular wedding all the way in Rajasthan , quips the magazine. If you are in Rajasthan, then have local fare like Daal Baati choorma , have a Bangkok style street food for your mehendi when in Thailand and binge on seafood when in Goa. Having a regular menu not only is a risk as the locals may not know how to prepare it, but also takes away from the entire destination wedding feel.
