A Wedding in Mussoorie for two Childhood Sweethearts!

BY The WMG Bride | 31 Jul, 2014 | 5546 views | 4 min read

Ever heard of someone naming their wedding? We just did - this fun, destination wedding in Mussoorie had a name called  'Sukhvarsha' displayed prominently across their wedding ! With gorgeous, unique outfits (love the green, the blue and the pink)  and fun, funky decor set amidst the hills these two childhood sweethearts had a destination wedding that looks like so much fun - captured by the young and talented Lakshya Chawla!!!

Meet Sukhman & Aayush

It all started with a truth and dare game in Class 9 in Jalandhar. While Sukhman was away, Aayush's friends asked him to name a girl he liked from their camp. He happened to say Sukhman (who by the way overheard him saying it) . She recounts " Nothing really happened, except a lot of teasing from our friends. Then one fine evening we were chatting and he proposed , and what started was a fairytale really, lots of sweet conversations on the phone (we didnt have cell phones in class 10!). We saw each other through school and then we left for our colleges. Me in Chandigarh , and him in Delhi . At the end of the first year, I started to realise that my parents might not agree to Aayush as he was not a Sikh, and since I was staying in my bua's house  I thought it best for us to move our seperate ways.  What followed was two miserable, lonely years before one day I saw his name flashing on my cell phone. The rest as they say, is history".

We love this green outfit for the cocktail.

Navy is so the color of the season. Its baffling the number of brides opting for deep, navy lehengas!

From the bride "We planned a destination wedding and since the wedding date was decided to be 12th April, we planned it uphills and after good surveys , finalised on Jaypee resorts mussorie. We had a ton of fun functions at the wedding including kite flying for our guests, a cocktail where we danced till our feet ached and a photobooth which everybody enjoyed. We had a small wishing tree where our family could leave us little notes to read which was super cute. We also named our wedding - we called it "Sukhvarsh" and this was displayed prominently everywhere. I was totally involved in the planning-  From designing the card to the packing of gifts etc and ofcourse my own outfits. Right from my Indo western peacock blue Anamika Khanna gown for the cocktail to my Vedic Wedding Lehenga from PFDC, I slept over each detail for a night before finalising everything. I chose a pretty pink anarkali from Frontier for the Gurudwara wedding, ensuring I had different looks on each day !Also I chose my hairstyles as well as my  lip colours as soon as I  chose my  outfits and showed them to my makeup artist so he knew my vision.   If I had to give advice to future bride-  The most important thing, spend atleast 2-3 hrs with your mom 2-3 days before the wedding.. Start Sleeping in  your parents rooms' a month before the wedding date, and ensure that while you talk to your fiance - your parents, grandparents are equally involved as its such an emotional moment for them. Most of all- don;t forget to smile , thats the only thing that will matter in your photographs. There are so many great vendors who made this wedding possible. Lakshya our photographer did such a superb job. He captured such beautiful moments without being obtrusive and making me go here and there for photos which is usually so annoying. He just captured what he wanted to and the results were beautiful. Moreover he acted like a family member and was totally worth it!
