Beautifully Unconventional Delhi Wedding With A Personalised Ceremony

BY Sakshi | 27 Jun, 2023 | 2430 views | 5 min read

Nothing about this wedding was conventional- the bride wore silver, the decor was offbeat yet gorgeous, but the best part? The couple had an wedding that was not traditional- they had their own vows and own ceremony just the way they wanted. As if we were not fans of real bride Rhea's gorgeous bridal look, which btw was in a completely customised stunning lehenga, we've fallen even more in love with this wedding for everything that it stood for- celebrating how they wanted with the people who matter to them, and having a crazy time as they do so! Take a look at this beautiful union which has so much to take inspiration from!

Meet Rhea and Govind

Govind and I met in the 7th grade in school, we started "dating" (whatever that looks like when you're 14 years old!) and have been together since.

From The Bride:

Our wedding took place on February 2, 2023. The vision for the wedding was all heart : We have some of the most amazing relationships that we have built with people over the last 16 years and the goal was to celebrate not just us - but them as well.
We did not have a traditional wedding ceremony - we wanted to make intentional promises to each other. So our ceremony was conducted by Ananda Ashram. We wrote 7 vows : 3 were my promises to him, 3 were his to me and the 7th a combined promise to each other. We took pheras around the elements of fire, water, earth and sky.
Our ceremony began with 7 speeches from people that have seen us grow - from school to now. 2 childhood friends, 2 friends who knew us as separate individuals in university, 2 of our best friends from today, Govind's mom and my dad. My sister (who is my soul sister) officiated the entire wedding.

Other than this: if you know Govind and me you also know that we have danced everywhere- we met dancing in school, we've danced on every friends wedding, we know all the steps and can break into a duet performance anywhere. The wedding was a reflection of that energy. The 3 days - we decided to be fully present to the moments - no cares about decor, outfits, looking great , etc - once the planning was done and day 1 began we made sure we had great conversations with people, had shots with almost everyone - in an intentional all heart way.

Vendor Reviews

Venue:

Morbagh, Delhi

Perfect venue for a cocktail. They take the most amazing care of you, the food is delicious and process is stress free. But they are very popular and very busy so book in advance!

The Kingdom, Dera Mandi Road: Mehendi and where we all stayed together as a family for the 3 days. This was a hidden gem- and such a beautiful venue for a mehendi that looks like its a small courtyard.

Punj Farm: Absolutely stunning farm but logistically a nightmare. Bathrooms were too far and they weren't very helpful.

Makeup Artists:

Pooja Khurana Beauty: (Wedding and Mehendi): The best decision I made. Very professional, and made me look like me.

Photography: House on the Clouds

They became like our family those three days. Best energy and I will give a shout out to Harsha Bhatija who was almost like my bridesmaid by the end of it.

Decor: Wedding light Events

Kashish is a great guy with a great attitude and loved working with him.

Bridal Outfits:

Wedding: Sureena Chowdhri: This is Govind's brand and I could not have worn anything but this. It is who I love wearing and my wedding dress was made infront of my eyes from nothing to what I wore.

Cocktail: Falguni & Shane Peacock: I wanted to be chill and me so I had no dupatta. It took them a while to get my fitting correct, didn't love that but by the end I was happy.

Mehendi: Abhinav Mishra: An absolutely amazing experience: they were great and I got exactly what Iwant in my first trial. Even though I had customised the whole thing and they didn't have what I wanted on the rack.

Entertainment

The Unplugged Project: Best band to have on your mehendi.

Hari Sukhmani : created the best vibe on our wedding day party.
