Bridal Breakdown: Radhika Merchant

BY Sakshi | 12 Jul, 2024 | 2571 views | 4 min read

FINALLY! After countless 'pre-wedding' ceremonies and numerous outfits and changes, it's finally time for the grand finale of the Ambani wedding. The bride, Radhika Merchant has been knocking it out of the park with her stunning looks (she looks good in just about anything), and we love how she has been experimenting with her style, not just sticking to the tried and tested. Styled by celebrity stylist Rhea Kapoor, here's a bridal breakdown of Radhika Merchant's bridal looks- if you missed her 'pre-bridal' ones, then there's an exhaustive list here too. So let's get started.

Reception in Dolce & Gabbana and Anamika Khanna

The bride of the hour, Radhika Merchant took it to the other level! She wowed at her Reception in @dolcegabbana Alta Moda Sardegna 2024 and a custom @anamikakhanna.in Couture Sari. Stunning, right?

Shubh Aashirwad in custom Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

For her first evening as Mrs. Radhika Ambani, designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla teamed up with artist Jayasri Burman and Rhea Kapoor to create a unique dress for the bride.

The lehenga’s 12 panels are hand-painted on Italian canvas, showcasing Jayasri’s mythical style. The artwork celebrates Anant and Radhika’s union with meaningful imagery, featuring human figures representing the couple with a celestial glow and animals highlighting Anant’s love for them, especially elephants.

The dress includes detailed hand embroidery with real gold Zardozi and sequins, complementing Jayasri’s artwork. It is paired with a blouse entirely embroidered in Resham by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s skilled craftsmen.

The Wedding

After the bride wowed everyone in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Panetar lehenga, she chose a blouse with Karchobi embroidery to honour her Gujarati heritage from the house of Manish Malhotra. This blouse features real gold Karchobi work, inspired by traditional abho and the textile heritage of Kutch, Gujarat, reflecting the craftsmanship of the late 19th century.

Radhika Merchant, looking like absolute royalty in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla's intricate interpretation of ‘Panetar’—the Gujarati tradition of brides wearing red and white. We think a very refreshing take from a bridal POV!

As per the designer, "The ivory Zardozi cut-work ensemble consists of a trailing ghagra layered with a second detachable trail, a 5 meter head veil and a tissue shoulder dupatta. The ghagra glitters with three borders of red, Its workmanship is the finest amalgamation of Naqshi, Saadi and Zardozi symmetrically hand-embroidered in intricate floral booties that are lavishly decorated with stones, sequins, tamba tikkis and a touch of red Resham. The head veil has impossibly delicate jaali and cut-work while the detachable trail is a Zardozi marvel of 80 inches. The outfit is complete with a fully embroidered red shoulder dupatta that uplifts the silhouette with its maximal drama”

Pooja

For the Grah Shanti Pooja, she kept is very traditional in an ivory saree paired with a peach blouse. She was also seen in a change of outfits, with a traditional lehenga and modern braid that looked very elegant!

Twirlable in Tarun Tahiliani

Vibrant & radiant in Anamika Khanna for the Haldi

In a look that we absolutely adore, we love how fresh Radhika Merchant kept it for her haldi. Her bright yellow lehenga had a mogra dupatta and jewellery, which looked fresh and vibrant. While floral dupattas and jewellery are nothing new, we love how radiant she looked!

A quick change to a signature AK

Of course, when it's the Ambanis, there is never one outfit for one function. She changed over to a resplendent signature AK lehenga with raw edges dainty, floral diamond jewellery.

A vibrant lehenga with a touch of Bandhani by Jigyam for the Garba Night

It was traditional with a touch of modern for the Dandiya night. She kept a traditional Bandhani dupatta draped in a Gujarati way for the dance, which looked very chic on her!

Dripping in diamonds in custom AJSK for the Sangeet

A traditional look with a contemporary touch, this lehenga

A chainmail saree by Manish Malhotra for a quick switch

Beautiful Banarasi in Manish Malhotra for the Mameru

Ok, so that might be a little too many looks for any bride, but we are, after all, talking about the Ambani wedding! So, which one out of the many, many looks was your favourite? Tell us in the comments below!
