Everything you need to know about Pre Bridal Skincare: Makeup Artist Chandni Singh Reveals !

BY The WMG Bride | 26 May, 2014 | 7698 views | 3 min read

Isn't it super annoying when you read expert interviews and all the answers seem to be along the lines of "The secret to glowing skin is being happy". I mean, we get that and all but as brides to be- give us some tangible things we can work on right? So we asked Chandni Singh, ex model and now one of the leading makeup artists in Delhi to dish out the details on Pre bridal skincare packages and everything around that !

Hi Chandni, first of all this journey from model to makeup artist. How did it happen?

I always wanted to be a make up artist, modelling was just for fun & some extra pocket money:)  I started bridal make up in 2006 & gave it up briefly as I did not have like minded clientele. Later in 2007 I started doing bridal make up again & would only take clients through references as i wanted to cater to people who liked it subtle  & classy.

What do you recommend your brides to start practicing as a skincare regime in the run up to the wedding?
Ideally every bride should start her skin regime 6 months prior her wedding. I recommend:

  • Increase your water in take. Start your day with a litre of water on an empty stomach.
  • Exercise
  •  Eat healthy
  • Apply sunblock everyday even if u do not step out of the house.
  • When u step out use an umbrella/cap/hat/sun glasses to cover up your skin
  • A facial every 4 weeks would be ideal. I recommend Skyendor Vitamin c facials or derma peels depending on your skin type. These are available at my salon
  • Fresh fruit cleaning also works wonders for the skin
  • A good CTM regime twice a day at home
  • Aloe vera in any form is great. You can apply it directly to the skin or start drinking a spoonful everyday.

There are tons of pe-bridal packages like body wraps and peels in the market. Any specific ones you recommend?

The Skyendor range of facials are absolutely stunning. The Derma peel & Vitamin C facials( for dry skin)  give incredible results. Glycolic peels by O3 is great for acne prone oily skin.  Uptans help keep the skin soft & blemish free. it removes tan naturally.

What about Do-it-yourself skincare at home?

Apply papaya mash to all skin types. It gives glow & helps pigmentation and  is also a natural bleaching agent to remove tan . Tomato pulp applied on open pores would also help in tan removing as well as tightening the skin and treating open pores . Skin that lacks shine & looks harsh will benefit if you apply honey on it . Egg whites works wonders for people who have too many lines on their face!

Off topic question, but whats the difference between Air Brush and Regular makeup?

Air brush make up unlike traditional make up is applied with a spray machine. For traditional make up we use brushes, fingers & sponge. It is extremely sheer & appears natural unlike traditional make up. It also lasts for an easy 15 hours plus. Air brsuh make up is also high definition so it gives great radiance to the skin.

Brides who like really sheer make up should opt for air brush make up. I also recommend it to girls with extremely oily skin who are getting married in summers as their skin tends to eat away foundation.
