"How I Planned My Wedding Decor, Being A Wedding Planner "

BY Sakshi | 05 Apr, 2018 | 1335 views | 4 min read

When a wedding planner gets married herself, you can imagine the wedding to really pop, especially the decor! That's what we noticed about Neha and Gaurav's Wedding in Thailand, with Neha being the Founder and Director of Signatures by Neha★ 4.9 and Foreign Wedding Planners★ 5 ! She had a two-day intimate wedding abroad, with only about 35 close family members and friends as they did not want a big wedding- but it did have some neat little decor ideas and cute favour ideas! Over to her now, as she takes us through it!

Meet Neha and Gaurav - the couple

The Unique Decor

"So the events we had were - Day 1: Mehendi Lunch and Pool Party Dinner  &  Day 2: Wedding with Lunch. Evening was followed by Cocktails Reception and then a Sangeet."

Mehendi with Kites & Marigold

"We wanted to keep it really colourful and casual. Keeping in mind that its an afternoon event and it would be at a venue called Swan Garden, which has little ponds with fish and a lot of natural greenery. We took inspiration from 'Kites' and added desi-tadka by having a Truck-bar and LOTS of marigold strings."

Lantern Canopy for Pool Party

"For the pool party Gaurav and I wanted to provide ample of beach side essence and a feel of 'Thailand'. So we chose the pool side venue for a sun-down event and the vast ocean for backdrop. The main decor was a bamboo canopy with tons of white paper lanterns, under which we had a dance floor and a bar."

A reception over the sunset

"For Cocktails reception we chose a beautiful place called 'The View' which is known for its sunsets over the ocean. This wooden double deck was used to hold a cocktails reception complete with a Saxophonist and a group of professional bartenders. Decor was kept minimal with tons of fairy lights."

A Lavender Wedding

"The favourite decor idea for the wedding was the colour theme, which all guests followed. We colour coordinated with hues of purple and pink for all women and lavender safas for men. As a bride, I always wanted a day wedding as I love the idea of sunlight, colour and flowers with the sea as backdrop. So it was my personal choice to choose 'Lavender' as the theme. We had all hues of purple and baby pink for decor. The men had lavender safas and the mandap and chair bows were in shades of purple. I entered dancing with my bridesmaids, which was a bridal entry to remember!"

The Wedding Favours

"We gave away favours of hand-made purses and bindis for mehndi, which were hand-picked by me from streets of Janpath. For our pool party, we had these lovely Thai pashmina stoles for everyone. For the wedding, we gave small purple pouches of mixed nuts and lavender pouches of Potpourri for all. Since it was a day wedding, we also gave wooden hand fans in beige to all guests. For the Reception, we gave these beautiful cocktail rings to all ladies, hand-picked from Chandni Chowk. A special mention to Thai wicker baskets with leather straps, which we sent to all rooms filled with all kind of savouries and eatables. These bags were intended to be uses as souvenirs later and also served as beach/pool bags for all who wanted to carry them.
