Every year, we all have a bunch of weddings to attend that require you to wear something new. Well, I must admit that I’m one of those girls who likes a new trend or a fun silhouette. And to buy new stuff every year which costs a pretty sum isn’t the fun bit. How does one bridge the gap? How does one look on top of trends without spending a bomb? Surely, there’s got to be a solution. And a fashionable one at that!
I had my best friend’s wedding coming up in a few months and I needed something that was stylish and in my budget - but I since I wasn’t happy at all with what’s out there, I decided to try a new path.I had heard of Rent the Runway in the US and I was aware of the concept of renting high-end fashion for special occasions. It’s fuss-free and easy, and fits into your dream of wearing something new without burning a hole in your pocket! When I came across Flyrobe's website (India’s equivalent of Rent The Runway) , I loved the collections, the styles and the variety and to top it off, the rentals were very pocket-friendly. That’s why I wanted to give it a try!The very first piece that I rented from Flyrobe was a lehenga for a friend's Sangeet function. It was a blue gota patti lehenga costing Rs 24,000 but I was able to rent it for a cool Rs 2K. Ka-ching! I was on the moon for finding that beautiful piece that complimented me beautifully.I was a bit skeptical initially regarding the fitting of the lehenga since I am slimmer than most people and I wasn't sure if Flyrobe would be able to alter the garment perfectly. They sent a tailor to my house who took my measurements and perfectly altered the lehenga to suit my frame.
The lehenga came in mint condition- well washed and ironed- completely ready to wear. Since then, I have rented from Flyrobe 4-5 times with consistently pleasing results! And yes, renting is a great way to wear the latest in trend without worrying about costs, taking care of them and compromising on style.
