To Nath or not to Nath- now that's a question brides have to face these days. Even if you too drool over pretty vintage naths like we do, fact is, not all of us have a piercing to keep it in place- yes, we do realise that a lot of naths come ready to use without a piercing- to be pressed into place, but some small ones can be too light and heavy ones can keep slipping thanks to their weight. So how does a bride keep her Nath in place? Well, we got you a few hacks!

For brides without a piercing:
- Do not pick a very heavy Nath- By heavy we mean the weight of the Nath. If you don't have a piercing, then getting a handcrafted heavy Nath might not be for you, as it will keep slipping. If you want a 'heavy' Nath, then go for one which looks heavy but really isn't.
- The screw of the Nath is also really important. Pick one that doesn't screw on directly, but with a little curve like the Nath in the featured image if it is an oversized heavy nosering. This will help secure it better.
- Prefer a flatter press point for the Nath instead of a ball design, which will help keep it in place better.
- Try on the Nath beforehand. Do not leave this for the wedding day! Try your Nath on as soon as you purchase it at home to see how comfortable it is for you, especially if you do not have a piercing. It can be a wee bit uncomfortable, so wear it for a while to check for discomfort.
- Latch it on to the right spot- You know that spot where the nose starts curving into the nostril- that's the right spot since it gets a little support in staying up. If you have a slim nose without that curve, then prefer a smaller Nath instead of a bigger one that might slip off more easily.
- For an extremely elaborate Nath, use some double-sided tape to keep it in place- just a tiny piece in a place where it isn't too visible! It will help keep it in place.

- Make sure to get a Nath with an attached chain. Now this is another great hack which not only makes the Nath look prettier, but even helps in keeping it in place. Use the chain to add some support, but do not keep it too tight- it can tug on the Nath and make it fall.
- Do not keep fidgeting with the Nath as it may dislodge it. You can press it into place time and again, but do not keep touching it, which will only make it fall from its correct position.
- Do not press it too hard. A lot of brides keep pressing it too hard in order to keep it in place- all you're gonna be left with after that is an angry sore, so be firm, but gentle.
- Take off the Nath before eating- It is bound to cause a little irritation, so instead of trying to eat around it, just take it off, or let it hang with the chain while you eat- then you can take a break and reattach it after.

For brides with a piercing:
- Even though you know it might be fine, still try on the Nath beforehand. You might find that the stick might be too thick or it might just generally be a little uncomfortable. You can get all this fixed in time for the wedding.
- Typically, nostril piercings are done at small gauges, such as 20 gauge, 18 gauge and 16 gauge, so make sure your nosering is not thicker than that.
- Get an extension like this one and attach it to that if it doesn't fit or generally to make it more comfortable.

- Sanitise the nosering with rubbing alcohol before wearing it, especially if your piercing is not very old.
- Since you cannot take off the Nath during the wedding, try eating with it when you wear it too, to see how comfortable it is.
- Have a proper backing on the nosering. That is crucial if you want it to be in place.
- If it is a very heavy nosering, prefer those with a ringed design which helps keep it in balance.
- If you're wearing a veil as well, be extra careful as the nosering can get stuck in it, which can cause a lot of pain!
