Wedding in Mahabalipuram with gorgeous decor !

BY The WMG Bride | 08 Jan, 2015 | 9386 views | 4 min read

You might want to spend a bit of time in the gallery for this wedding here  because there are A TON of little ideas these two incorporated in their wedding. Right from receiving guests with garlands made of shells, to having a selfie stick at their mehendi, movie posters of the bride and groom at the Sangeet and more. Our favourite part of this wedding though- undoubtedly the ultra colorful decor and that little parrot at the end, we just want to kidnap it and  keep it at the WMG office. Cuh-yoot! With a bride whose smile lights up the screen, she carries off her Kanjivaram with as much ease as her amazing floral jewellery!

The Mehendi

From the bride:  To get things started we had a fun, pool side Mehendi where guests were welcomed with shell garlands and I wore some different kinds of floral jewellery- hot pink orchids and white mogre flowers. Our sangeet  was a 45 minute musical titled "How Chichu met Sheeni". It was a mix of video, dance, comedy and a whole lot of special effects. The entire show was choreographed and performed by family and friends. The entire hall was decorated with posters of the groom and myself and The bar was decorated to look like a bus. After the musical which starred the bride and groom, the groom surprised me with a flash dance proposal. The whole thing left me on tears - he got me a rose shaped diamond ring. Everyone danced the night away, young and old.

For the Pellikuthuru/pellikoduku function, the decor was parrot themed. The stage had a palak where me and the groom were seated. The return gift was a German silver parrot shipped from Delhi. We also had special wallets designed for the wedding. They were designed in 3 colors: red, brown and grey with the wedding logo. We had a leather wallet for men and leather clutch for women as gifts. There was a decorated silver swing which was a gift to me from the grooms family. The guests were served fresh sugarcane juice.   The theme for the wedding was peacock. The mandapam was framed by 2 giant floral peacocks. All guests were dressed in colors of blue, green and purple (peacock colors). Men wore traditional Telugu panchas and silk shirts, while women wore traditional kancheepuram sarees.  As the auspicious time came closer, I was getting emotional as I imagined not being with my parents anymore, and tears began to roll down my eyes. The groom, upon hearing that I was upset, asked for a napkin and a pen on which he drew a smiley face and passed it to me under the floral curtain that separated us. A few more notes passed under like that and soon I was smiling the widest smile ever! The reception was African themed (since the grooms family is from Kenya). There was huge hair-on leather rugs and Kenyan art murals on all the walls. The center pieces were African handicrafts which were airlifted from Nairobi, Kenya. Unlike a traditional reception where the guests lined up to greet the newly married couple, we had a more fun atmosphere, with games for the guests to play, a trivia session about Kenya, and a couple of fun speeches.
