This Couple Threw A Reception Two Years After Their Intimate Pandemic Wedding

BY Sakshi | 07 Dec, 2023 | 1702 views | 4 min read

So many couples had their intimate weddings in the nearly three years of the pandemic. While a lot of them left it at that, there are couples who are going all out with celebrations in 2023 to fulfill that desire to go big. Anisha and Rachit had two pandemic celebrations- an intimate wedding in Delhi, a reception in Chicago, but it was their heart's desire to throw an overdue grand reception, and that they did! We loved their intimate wedding which had the bride in a gorgeous earthy cinnamon lehenga, and she wowed at her reception too, in a glam Manish Malhotra creation. What was special was that the interiors for the reception, which happened at the stunning Araya Bagh in Delhi was done by none other than Tarun Tahiliani. Take a look at Anisha and Rachit's pretty intimate wedding and their glam reception.

Meet Anisha and Rachit

Rachit and I were both based out of the US. Rachit was in Chicago, and I was in New York. A family friend in Delhi set us up and coincidentally, our first few dates happened in Delhi–when we were both visiting our families for the Diwali festivities. We continued to date, going back and forth between New York and Chicago every week! Over time, we discovered that we grew up in the same neighborhood, shared dentists and doctors yet had never crossed paths until we began dating--stuff right out of the romcoms. Soon we were engaged, but as fate would have it, the pandemic hit and we went from dating to living together to being married in the Chicago court within a span of a year. We held a small reception party amidst COVID in Chicago, but something was amiss. So, we decided to get married in an intimate setting in Delhi, this time with our parents and closest family and friends present. Over two years have passed since, and we've made memories worth a lifetime. But, we are not done celebrating our love. Last week, we finally threw a long overdue wedding reception to mark our almost 3 years of togetherness, and an eternity ahead!

Intimate Wedding

Reception

From The Bride:

The intimate wedding was held in The Oberoi's New Delhi, a sundowner with champagne and shades of burnt orange. It was planned within a couple of weeks, but was everything I dreamt of, and more.

The wedding reception was held at Araya Bagh, New Delhi and was a hybrid of a cocktail party and Sufi Night. The venue decor had Turkish influences and the venue interior was designed by Tarun Tahiliani.

Vendor Reviews

Venues:

Araya Bagh (Reception) - Beautiful venue, great food! Wish we could've used the outdoor lawns (we couldn't due to the heat in Sept), they look splendid!

Oberoi New Delhi Rooftop (Wedding) - Panoramic views of the Delhi greens, monuments and a glorious sunset. Plus, great food and service. Couldn't have asked for more!

Photography: Shivam Dua Photography

For both events, took the best pictures and captured the most candid moments! Made our intimate covid wedding look larger than life. A delight to look back on those beautiful moments, thanks to him and his team.

Makeup Artists:

Pooja Khurana (Reception): Gave me a dewy, subtle yet glam look for my long overdue wedding reception party -- just what I asked for. Bonus: great energy and team! I'm friends with them all now.

Isha Khanna (Wedding): Easy to work with, listens to client needs and puts her heart in the work. Gave me my dream wedding, bridal look!
