This Unique Wedding Proposal Took The Sneakerheads By Surprise

In a love story that's been a decade in the making, she decided it was time to flip the script. Who needs a Tiffany ring when you can have Tiffany x Nike sneakers? With hearts pounding and the sun setting over the horizon, she got down on one knee! And what do you know, he said 'yes' to this out-of-the-box proposal that perfectly sums up their beautiful journey.

How did you guys meet?

We first met in college 11 years ago. Ravin was my senior, so he graduated and moved to Mumbai. Despite the nine years of long-distance, we've been together since the beginning.

Could you please provide a detailed description of the proposal's location or setting and explain its significance?

If it were on me, I’d live in a sand castle! That’s how much I love beaches. So I knew planning a getaway to Goa would never have made him suspicious. We were staying at a resort in North Goa which had private access to the beach. So, the initial idea was to propose there since it would’ve been easier to coordinate and execute the proposal. But, the universe had other plans. It rained all afternoon, and the sunset proposal I dreamt of was slowly turning into a soggy mess. That’s when the photographer came to the rescue.

I was super lucky to find Yanika, a Goa-based Russian photographer, who was kind enough to help us change the location at the last minute. Since she knew the neighborhood better than us, she recommended a truly hidden gem – Querim Beach: an aesthetic, rocky, and most importantly, quiet beach in the north of Goa. Then it was just a matter of some scheming and plotting to get Ravin to believe that we were going to the caves. All the credit there goes to my friends, Patney, Soni, and Punnu!

Did any special details or surprises happen during the proposal?

The most special thing for me was Ravin's reaction. It took him the whole evening to process what had happened. That's because I had long ago orchestrated how "he would propose to me," so he never expected the tables to turn. To add to that, he never thought I'd go down on my knees with a pair of sneakers, the Nike x Tiffany & Co. limited edition. Most women have dreamt of owning a Tiffany, so when I first read about the launch, I knew this was the one, especially for the guy who'd forget to put on his ring but never his sneakers. Big ups to another friend, Gaurav, who helped me get my hands on the classic pair.

The next surprise for Ravin was the little photoshoot I had planned right after the proposal. I stumbled upon Yanika's Instagram profile a few weeks ago and loved her work. I showed her a mood board, and she was happily on board. Cut to the proposal, we were extremely shy and emotional at that moment, but she did a phenomenal job.
