BY Riya Agarwala | 13 Oct, 2022 | 870 views | 5 min read

How would you feel if, when you open the wedding invitation card box, instead of being greeted by the smell of paper and cardboard, you are greeted with the fragrance of roses, mogra buds and potpourri? Yes! Gone are the days of traditional card and box wedding invites! The newest trend these days is wedding invitations with real flowers, that smell as good as they look! Take a look at these gorgeous wedding invites that have incorporated real flowers into their design!

Renowned wedding invitation designer Puneet Gupta, created these gorgeous purple invites with hand painted watercolor flowers for his clients Shreya and Shivjeet. Not only is this a simple and classy invitation, but we also love how the designer has added fresh and fragrant mogra buds to the wedding invite box!

Wedding Invite with Marigold Flowers

Marigold or ‘genda phool’ are the go-to flowers when it comes to Indian weddings. Diksha Mehta has taken these simple flowers and used pretty much every part of the flower to create these eco-friendly invites for a client. Yup! The invite has been printed on marigold seed paper that can actually be ‘planted’ by the wedding guests. We love how she’s created a bed of marigold flower strands in the box and mentioned how the invite can be reused. If you want a sustainable and eco-friendly wedding, these stunning invites are a great starting point!

Trust international fashion influencer and icon Diipa Büller-Khosla to jumpstart the ‘real flowers in wedding card’ trend that we are seeing these days. Made by the Sketch Design Studio, Diipa’s wedding invite came in a box filled with dried rose petals and dried twigs!

The Pichwai Five Senses Wedding Invite

Puneet Gupta just keeps surprising us with his innovative and creative wedding invites! For Yash and Prachi’s wedding, Gupta created a stunning Pichwai-themed wedding invite that literally appealed to all the five senses of sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. For ‘sight’ it was the vibrant colorful imagery around the box, ‘hearing’ and ‘sound’ were incorporated by adding divine music into the invite, ‘taste’ would be the delicious, uniquely-flavored ladoos inside the box and ‘smell’ was catered to by the fragrance of real flowers such as desi gulaab, rose and mogra.

The fragrance of dried rose petals and dried mogra flowers are a match made in heaven; just like you and your partner! The Wedding Card Co., used these aromatic  flowers to create a gorgeous wedding invite. Instead of the usual wedding cards, the company printed all the events and functions on a scroll, rolled it up and placed it on top of a pile of dried roses. If royalty was a thing when it came to wedding invites, this beautiful invite would definitely be as royal and regal as wedding invites can get!

Combine dry rose petals with a scented candle and you are bound to get a beautiful olfactory assault on your nose! Sketch Design Studio has used this to create a simple and elegant wedding invite for their clients. We love how the transparent dark beige paper is printed with golden motifs and tied up with an antique gold-coloured thread. If classy and old-word charm is what you are looking for, take some inspiration from this simple yet striking wedding invite!

Hand Painted Wedding Invite with Fresh Rose Petals

Puneet Gupta stuns us yet again with this hand painted wedding invite that contains a one-of-a-kind caricature of their clients Ayush and Disha. Believe us when we say this, a wedding invite cannot get more personalized than this! We simply love how Gupta has covered the spaces between the glass boxes by sprinkling them with some fresh rose petals. Smell and taste, all blend into one in this unique wedding invite!

Though not an invite for a wedding, we are loving this bachelorette invite! We are totally digging the white flowers placed inside shot glasses for this invite. They give a new meaning to the saying that girls are made of “sweet and spice and everything nice”!

These trending wedding invitations that look as good as they smell, are one wedding trend that we are surely loving!  We can’t wait to see what other innovations and designs we’ll be seeing for wedding cards in the future!
