Online Wedding Trends You Should NOT Follow in 2018!

BY Sakshi | 09 Feb, 2018 | 4099 views | 3 min read

Hello dear bride-to-be, you're engaged and super excited about your impending wedding and you're on Pinterest with a vengeance and flipping through bridal magazines like they are cheap paperbacks. While there are some trends that were so cute a couple of years ago, now it's sort of overdone and people across social media and wedding planning are BORED! So, we made a list of no-nos to give you an idea - or 10 so you could avoid the cliches and make it through with an original plan.

Flower crowns for bridesmaids/ aunties/friends

Flower crowns- so overdone, and they don't even look that nice anymore! I mean, its OK for the bride, but not those ones that you see everywhere! They were adorable while they lasted but now maybe its time to give them a rest!

Cheesy Signage: Things like "She's mine; He's mine" or "Mr.Right and Mrs.Always Right"

Hellooo, just done to death. If you want to do them, do them well with an original quote, handwritten is also OK, as long as it's not shabby- don't do it for the heck of it.

Mason Jars & Bird Cages: Just No

Again, overdone! Mason jars in decor and birdcages and all over are just on their way out- so reconsider them for your big day! And if your planner shows them to you - just change the planner!

Theme? Kitsch or Fusion. #byebye

Indian kitschy was great in 2007, NOT NOW. Fusion or kitsch with a bit of Bollywood can come off as lazy if not anything!

Marigolds for Mehendi

Duh, yes! It's super predictable and really not original - it's like Katrina wearing Pink in every movie!

Staged Wedding Photos or Even Stages

Those royalty-ish woman sitting on a chair and the groom standing next to her is as old as time. Even having a stage nowadays is seen as boring. Just avoid it and greet people on your own.

Big fat jaimalas

Delicate ones are great - the big fat ones that cover your entire outfit - nopes, won't work.

Overly contoured makeup

You know the kind where the bride looks like 1) a bharatnatyam dancer 2) an opera actress #3) a mime. Just opt for dewy fresh makeup, go easy on contouring, avoid too much strobing and thick foundation and no, wide eyes - just subtle highlighting is enough!

Brides posing in any of the following: Sunglasses, Sneakers or Making a "yo" sign

We had our fun with sunnies and sneakers - now avoid them like Shahid runs away from Kareena. Even making a peace sign and yo sign is overrated!

Overload of Floral Jewellery

I mean ladies, give it a rest! A little bit is good, but loading up on flowers from top to bottom does not look good- it looks like a garden! A few pieces are fine, but not from top to bottom that too all matching!

Overspending and Over the Top Stuff

Spending too much money and looking like you are spending it ( with oscentattious stuff) is a big problem these days. Everyone wants minimalistic and fun, not over-the-top and crass.

Too many themes

Stick to a theme and let it run. Don't let too many themes confuse you - Bollywood theme, bahubali theme, circus theme, kitsvhy theme, vintage theme...all in one go? Nahi!

Lame Photobooth Props like Placards with "Dulhan" and "Band Baaja Baraat"

They're OK for a couple of photos, but not for most of them! Prefer those with natural expressions rather than just holding them and covering up stuff!
